Nashville’s Bully are poised to release one of the finest debut albums of 2015, with ‘Feels Like’ out in 2 weeks on Startime International. Today the 4-piece released the brand new video for “Trying”. The video is directed by David Kleiler who was also behind the video for “Wet Firecracker” by Silkworm, a long time favorite of the band and shows Alicia Bognanno spinning on an old school rotor ride. Fun fact it’s one of only 4 left in the entire United States!

Bully are currently on a national tour with Best Coast and will be playing several major festivals this summer including Pitchfork, Lollapalooza and Hopscotch. All tour dates are listed below including a special performance at Rough Trade in Brooklyn on June 15th at 7pm. Do not miss out on one of the most breathtaking live shows happening right now. The Dodos

The Dodos have announced North American tour dates for this Fall, supporting Mew, September 17 thru October 11, along with a performance at Otalith Music Festival in British Columbia, Canada. The San Francisco duo will first do a special hometown performance at The Academy of Science on July 9, all in continued support of their sixth full-length album, ‘Individ’, which arrived in January on Dine Alone Records (Polyvinyl Records in USA/Morr Music in Europe).

‘Individ’ is the opening of a new chapter for the Dodos, recorded right on the heels of 2013’s Carrier, writing the material as they went, quickly, without questioning, drawing on instinct and the knowledge one gains from performing with the same person for nearly a decade. It is the band’s most immediate and raw album to date, and yet their most accessible.

Midnight Pool Party

unnamed 2

After the huge success of their recent single ‘Stay,’ Sydney electro-funk duo Midnight Pool Party are excited to share their next disco-romp, ‘Disease.’ Midnight Pool Party’s ornate ability to blend classic and modern-day disco is always an impressive trait. Morilla’s sterling divo-esque vocals soar across driving arrangements of deep funky bass, strobing retro-synth sounds and vocodered vocals effects, delivering an infectious disco-funk groove that will have your body moving uncontrollably to its sounds.

“After such an amazing response to our last single, we really wanted to push ourselves with this new track, so we experimented with our arrangements, instrumentation and songwriting styles. We drew inspiration from legends like Prince, Justice, Presets, DaftPunk and Stevie Wonder-and I think if you listen really closely you can hear all of those flavors in there” –Midnight Pool Party

She Screams Of Royalty

Freshly off hiatus with a revamped lineup the features guitarist/singer Nathan Post as the only original member, She Screams Of Royalty is pleased to announce that they have signed with Imminence Records. With She Screams Of Royalty being Nathan’s baby, it was only a matter of time before he brought it back after issues arose in his and screamer Troy Lawson’s former band. On the signing Troy commented, “I’m super excited about the signing because that could mean even one more person hearing our music and getting our message or hearing a song and having the same feeling we did writing it so maybe they can connect with music like we did.”

In association with the signing announcement, the band has also just released their cover of Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood.” On why they decided to do a cover of “Bad Blood” Nathan had this to say, “We chose this song because Troy and myself have always wanted to do a Taylor Swift cover and from the first time we heard the song and watched the music video we thought it would be really cool to put our own spin on it.” The band is currently putting the finishing touches on their lead single off the forthcoming Lucid Dreams A Relationship that is projected to be released in late summer or early fall. The band is then looking to hit the road come this winter.

Natalie McCool

Natalie_pack_shot_tritone

Natalie McCool is a multifaceted artist whose musical journey of discovery through varied collaborations has now landed her on the most ambitious sound to date. Excelling in razor-sharp alt-pop production developed with Dave Berger from seminal Liverpool alt pop band Outfit, the new recordings have every hallmark of great pop music with a fresh twist of modern alternative influences.‘Oh Danger’ is the new track from Natalie McCool and follows on from blog favourite ‘Pins’ which was a suitably prickly lament towards a faltering relationship, that ebbs and flows with an engrossing charm akin to Tove Lo or Lana Del Rey. This charm was not lost on Huw Stephens at Radio One who declared it ‘brilliant’ before playing the track on his show a number of times. ‘Pins’ came after the widely acclaimed ‘Dig it Out’, a dark ballad with syncopated vocal and shadowy video (released on Young and Lost Club), described by The Sunday Times as a ‘Mesmerising lilt-pop gem’.

‘Oh Danger’ brings a British twist to the modern pop of Sia and Lorde. Bold and earnest in equal amounts, McCool laments ‘Why every time we meet, I die and it tastes so sweet?’ in a song that’s punchy and fresh whilst fronted by ever-palatable pop melodies.

It’s this fresh honesty that sets McCool apart from her contemporaries, adding a level of meaning to her tracks that resonates beyond the superficial. ‘Pins’ also attracted floods of praise from the blogosphere including accolades from Idolator, Earmilk and Pigeons and Planes, who proclaimed it ‘another excellently crafted pop production’ and ‘a unique sound that blends electropop with an edgy alt-rock sensibility’. It’s this modern pop sound that has turned heads in McCool’s direction – with all of them hitting the replay button.
