Gramatik and Eric Krasno

Shot and edited by Andro Kajzer, the visual counterpart of “Recovery” brings to life the tracks sun-kissed, feel-good aura with the use of balmy beach side imagery. Appropriately feeding into the ethos of the track, “Recovery” came to life after Gramatik sustained a leg injury the required him to take a break from the road. This time off the road allowed Gramatik to return his focus on writing, testing new ideas, and producing a host of new music. For “Recovery,” the release has a more traditional arrangement than what we are generally used to in electronic dance music, so Gramatik made sure the tone of this one is set right from the get go. The track opens with a blissful, 50’s musical instrumentation, and then jumps right into the first verse with no long build-ups. Krasno was responsible for the straight-to-the-point lyrics that don’t hide behind unnecessary metaphors, and he also provided the vocals as well as his signature guitar playing.

As for how the track came to be, Gramatik simply states “Kraz and I are in Recovery from Torture.” According to Krasno, “Recovery” began as a part of his larger concept album until Gramatik got an ear on it:

“Recovery” is a track I initially wrote as part of a concept album I’ve been working on (coming early 2018). Gramatik heard it and instantly wanted to work on it. He had been through an intense leg injury and really related to the hook of the song. He then flipped it on its head in the best way possible…. I love working with him; his tracks always feel and sound amazing. We have also have a few more tracks in the works.”

With an epic year behind him, Gramatik is now ready to start the next chapter, and 2017 promises to be just as wild. Last year, he impressed fans and critics alike with the new album, Epigram and its subsequent remix EP featuring a number of Gramatik’s favorite producers. To kick off 2017, Gramatik released a new collaboration with GRiZ, titled “As We Proceed” that has clocked in over a million plays on Soundcloud since its January release. Gramatik has now continued that momentum thanks to his team up with Krasno on “Recovery.”

As for what’s next, it’s yet to be known what will become of the many tracks Gramatik created during his time off the road, but stay tuned as those hard-drives are sure to come to light. You can also catch Gramatik live around the world from Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheater to Paris’ Zenith through fall 2017. Find all Gramatik tour dates HERE!. For Krasno, he’ll be touring with his band and gearing up for a Soulive residency at Brooklyn Bowl in June. More info on Krasno’s tour dates HERE!.

Combining lush, saturated beats with Elderbrook’s crystalline voice which elevates and equalizes, ‘Cola’ is an exquisitely sophisticated firecracker. Already snapped up by Danny Howard as his Hottest Record on Radio 1 and championed by the likes of MK, Solomun and Sam Divine, the track demonstrates the full strength of CamelPhat & Elderbrook’s unique style and takes them into the upper echelons of today’s finest producers.

Regardless of your take on black metal forefathers Venom, they are the undisputed originators of extreme metal as we know it. Almost 40 years after their inception, the revitalized 1989-1992 line-up of guitarist Jeff “Mantas” Dunn, vocalist/bassist Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan and drummer Anthony “Abaddon” Bray have returned with a monster of an album.

After months of anticipation, VENOM INC. will release their upcoming full-length opus, entitled Avé, on August 11, 2017 via Nuclear Blast. Pre-orders for the new album are available now at:

Going in to writing Avé, VENOM INC. realized their live performance was the key to creating an album that would be a metal classic. It was clear that any songs the trio came up with had to have the intensity, the honesty and the aggression that was happening for VENOM INC. in a live situation. Simply put, they needed to translate what they do on stage onto a record. Not once did they look back on the Venom catalogue and think, “We have to write another ‘Black Metal’ or another ‘Schizo’…” The focus is on VENOM INC. and everything the rejuvenated three-piece do in the here and now.

Dolan adds, “Expect 100% pure, honest, solid, hard, dark, thought-provoking metal… like it was, is and forever shall be. Classic old-school, but with the ferocity and energy that we display in our live show. We are proud of this album and our new home at Nuclear Blast, as well as our whole team – management, PR, agents, sponsors and most of all, YOU. Thank you! See you somewhere on this Blood Stained Earth!”

VENOM INC. will kick off their upcoming Blood Stained Earth headline tour, featuring support from Goatwhore, Toxic Holocaust and The Convalescence, on September 1. Tickets for each date of the Blood Stained Earth tour are on sale today, at 10:00AM local time, at the links below.

Shattered Sun

“People are fed up and I am certainly fed up,” barks Marcos Leal, vocalist for melodic thrashers SHATTERED SUN. The raw, loud, unapologetic and honest front-man connects the dots on all things vexing him, from the bands near-implosion to the worldwide state of affairs. Today, the Texas-bred troop has released “Burn It Down,” the first video and details behind their sophomore album, The Evolution Of Anger, set for release on July 21 on Victory Records.

On the track, Leal admits, “We almost burned this band into the ground internally.” Guitarist Daniel Trejo decided to leave the band in late 2015, just as the band’s demons came out to haunt them before creating The Evolution Of Anger. “Between all the things we have done over the years, things finally came to the surface. Once Daniel came back into the fold, the first song he showed me was “Burn it Down,” and it is a perfect reflection of what occurred within SHATTERED SUN.”

The band huddled around each other with producer Mark Lewis (DevilDriver, Fallujah) in early 2017 to begin work on the album. Importing a new vibe and authority, “Mark brought a sound to the band that we didn’t think we were capable of,” says guitarist Jessie Santos. With artwork from Marcelo Vasco (Slayer, Machine Head), The Evolution Of Anger takes you through a labyrinth of heroic guitar proficiency and mind-bending musical muscle. After their fist-pumping debut, 2015’s Hope Within Hatred, SHATTERED SUN continue to expound why they are one of metal’s most impressive bands.

SHATTERED SUN’s first tour in support of The Evolution Of Anger finds them joining the 2017 Vans Warped Tour beginning July 26 outside of St. Louis, MO, and rounding out the tour on its final date in Pomona, CA on August 6. Fall tour details will be announced soon.

GoldenBlack (sometimes referred to, as G.B.E) is a rap/hip hop collective based in Durban, South Africa. As of February 2016, the group are best known for featuring on DJ Rico’s hit single “Don’t Trip” and Junior De Rocka’s “Been Thinking” with both songs being written by the group itself and producing both records under the name “SAAKBEATS” along with their distinctive, animated sound. Golden Back consists of three artists (Jon Fxrgo, Slay & Anston Kling). The group has released a mixtape : “The Come Up” (2015). The project received a significant amount of local acclaim and contributed towards increasing the group’s already growing fan base.

On the 26th of May 2017, the group released their first single titled, “Bs Hit The Fan”. The song exclusively premiered on Junior De Rockas radio show, which airs on Gagasi FM prior to the release date. The song is definitely a turn up song with a BPM of 146, the song’s hook was written by Anston Kling and executed by Jon Fxrgo. The song was produced by saakbeats. The group intends to shoot a visual for the song later on the year.

Danish project Masasolo caught everybody’s attention last year with the debut EP “Breakup”. US national radio station KCRW had their debut single ‘Really Thought She Loved Me’ as track of the day and the track was furthermore picked for Danish magazine Soundvenue’s top 10 hit list of 2016. The potential was obvious and the same year Masasolo was booked for the famous Roskilde Festival.

Masasolo have been featured on Hype Machine’s top 50 and blogs like Hillydilly and Indie Shuffle. The UK blog Jajaja even picked Masasolo as one of 5 Danish bands to keep an eye on in 2017.

Danish vocalist and guitar player Morten Søgaard Andersen is the man behind Masasolo, where the band works as an outlet for musical experimentation, as well as a personal diary of the joys and pains of being a dreamer entering adulthood. Masasolo has a distinct guitar-driven indie sound and could be compared to Connan Mockasin, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Mac Demarco.

Masasolo is now ready to release a new maxi single of two songs from a forthcoming album. First track “Idaho” unravels a story of the intoxication of being in love. The track explains the duality of suddenly falling in love with someone, feeling happy and lucky but also being sentimental and stressed, not being able to handle it. “And To Know This” deals with the gloomy feelings of regret and remorse of letting someone close down. In this way the two songs together constitue their own storyline.

Both songs are produced by Morten himself and Caspar Hesselager from Palace Winter.

Cyborg Asylum

Never Finished Only Abandoned

Electro indie-rockers, Cyborg Asylum, release their debut album Never Finished, Only Abandoned via iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music and all other major digital retailers. The twelve-track album features songs influenced by the music 80’s as well as a multitude of artists across a wide range of genres ranging from electro to alternative rock.

Cyborg Asylum is, David Varga and John Tumminia, a NYC Producer-Singer duo with roots in the United Kingdom and the United States. An inventive brand of electro post-industrial alt-rock. Sharply crafted beats and grooves blended with beautiful melodies and harmonies make up a rich sonic palette. Listeners are taken on an emotionally charged, alluring, and at times, ominous journey.

All of the writing and arranging for Cyborg Asylum takes place in David’s home studio (The Sky Box). Guitar parts are sent to David’s cousin, Phil Jones in England, where he plays and records them. The process is very much a product of the times we live in, with constant digital transfer of files throughout the writing process. It isn’t until the group heads into the studio to properly record vocals and mix that everyone is in the same room at once.

Summer Heart

It’s not so often that a band’s name truly reflects their sound, but when it comes to Swedish solo pop act Summer Heart (David Alexander), you can expect just that; hazy, sun- bleached tracks that are the perfect anthem to remembering hot July nights filled with skinny dipping and sleeping in.

Following the release of countless EPs and singles, including the most recent release, 2016’s Colours EP, Alexander wrote a lot of music, including two full-length albums that he eventually decided not to release. Now, he is set to release second full length 101 in August 2017, a piece of work that is decidedly, uniquely, confidently Summer Heart. Recorded in Malmo and Stockholm, Sweden early 2017, the record was inspired by Alexander’s time in NYC, discovering the city and observing the city’s residents.

“The record can be seen as a ten track love story, with ups and downs and all the in-betweens… never being satisfied, always wanting more, grass is greener on the other side.” Alexander says. With inspirations being taken from more than just music (think style, photography, literature, nature,), 101 feels a lot like the soundtrack to a home video from a long ago roadtrip or a summer barbecue with friends. While you might get the dream pop vibe, (akin to bands like Washed Out, Blood Orange, and Toro y Moi), Alexander’s sound is familiar yet all his own.

Dan Raza

In the wake of the Iraq war, Neil Young featured a stirring song called ‘Every Little Dog’ on his ‘Living With War’ website. The track was by Indian / British singer-songwriter Dan Raza, a writer who, like Young, creates music that whilst rooted in immediate genres transcends them by being able to touch on universal feelings and concepts. His songs have a strong sense of place and an enigmatic, wistful, restless quality at their heart.

The release of Dan Raza’s critically acclaimed debut album in 2012, alongside dates with Joan Armatrading, Badly Drawn Boy, Cara Dillon, Bellowhead, Mary Gauthier, Slaid Cleaves and more, cemented his place in the UK folk and roots scene and led BBC documentary maker, James Ashley Smith, to create ‘Can’t Go Back’, a short feature film about Raza’s sacrifices and struggles for his musical dreams.

Now with the release of his second album simply titled ‘Two’, it should be time that Raza is recognized as one of the UK’s most exciting and authentic new homegrown independent singer-songwriters with an outstanding new album of deeply written songs that every real music lover should lend their ears to.

The album features some great legendary talents backing Raza including BJ Cole (Dolly Parton, Bert Jansch), Frank Mead (Albert King, Paul McCartney), and members of Slim Chance, Geraint Watkins (Van Morrison, Nick Lowe), Steve Simpson (Eric Bibb, Ronnie Lane) and Charlie Hart (Ian Dury, Eric Clapton). The result is a finely produced album that is warm and immediate, yet has a depth and textural range that rewards repeat listening.

Moments like ‘Shadowlands’ have a Tom Waits or Nick Cave feel with dark moody landscapes, classic sounding guitars and haunting folk instrumentation; others, like ‘Where The Rivers Divide’, suggest bittersweet blue atmospheres that ebb and flow with confidence and mastery whilst ‘Pay Day’ is a straight up gutsy folk-rock belter. The tracks are full of stories influenced by and reflecting all aspects of Raza’s travelling and personal life and the production oozes with quality.

‘Two’ is a special collection of songs which have been honed and lovingly created and should be cherished at home on nights alone or with friends. Release date 7th July.

Cola and LeMove

Portland, OR based produced Alex Ries (LeMove) has been producing for close to 10 years now. As one of the in house producers for the bay area based band Flipsyde he is constantly searching for new ways to connect with artists around the world, collaborate and express through music. Upon finding Cola, a BC based rapper, the connection was seamless and a few weeks later this remix was born.

In this track, bedroom trap gets a rework into a smooth dance vibe seemingly toeing the line between hype music and head bobbing.

Cola and LeMove are working on their respective projects, be sure to stay tuned for lots more from each of them

When the Italians published their exquisite debut album “Lost Eden” in October 2013, the POWER METAL world listened abruptly. Finally, ALTAIR, founded in 2008, debuted with all-around high-quality material, which bundles all the virtues of the genre. An abundance of enthusiastic reviews was the deserved result. But otherwise, the heavily ambitious authors were able to score on a wide range, which resulted in a large number of followers and enthusiasts who loyally respect the guys.

For the second album “Descending: A Devilish Comedy”, the sextet from Ferrara succeeded in optimizing the exciting, pretty progressive overall sound. The new compositions shoot themselves liquid-virtuosic as also metallic-cheering in varied wise into the ears. And there is no lack of punctual pressure, high-rising epic, or skillfully elaborated melody. For the latter, all sorts of inspirations from the Classical world were given free access to the radiant sound cosmos of ALTAIR.

Keyboarder Enrico Ditta, an experienced actor at the electric organ, makes the nimble fingers dance as fast on the keys as if he stands under high voltage. His not infrequently solemnly, theatrical performance is integrated with the perfection of a Swiss clockwork into every nuance of the tracks.

Noble guitar duels, gloriously harmonious leads and ecstatic drumming make the wonderfully organic sounding disc a real jewel in the field of tastefully and aesthetically oriented Power Metal.

The fact that the new, great animating discus has definitely the content for a classic, is proved song by song. Example compliant? The inevitably overwhelming number “Flame Of Knowledge” testifies to the outstanding flair of the formation for the highest, timeless class.

Even vocalist Simone Mala can do anything. He covers on “Descending: A Devilish Comedy” the whole range of possibilities with his far outstanding, multi-mutable voice. Master Mala, always animated by frenetic fervor to the marrow, completes every single song to a real, delightful experience. From massive-voluminous over full-bodied expression, to siren-like passages, the man can just sing as few!

With their compositional and instrumental mastery performances and the high level of playing culture, ALTAIR raise more than subtle reminiscences on the early works of the famous Brazilians of Angra or the countrymen Rhapsody. A powerful fact, which should provide positive inner unrest among connoisseurs and gourmets of the metier. (Markus Eck)

The official release date for “Descending: A Devilish Comedy” is June, 30th 2017.

Virtual Symmetry

With exquisite influences from the areas of ambient, fusion, pop and contemporary music, these men of taste enrich their multi-faceted PROGRESSIVE METAL sound since their start in 2009.

Singer Marco Pastorino and his bandmates focus mainly on romantic melodies, surreal atmospheres and chasing rhythms. The futuristically accentuated mixture of the Milan quintet gets rounded off by suggestive backgrounds in the emphasized harmonious soundframe.

Guitarist and band founder Valerio Æsir Villa is not only a multi-instrumentalist, he also works out the ideas for the songwriting of VIRTUAL SYMMETRY. This way of proceeding was already proven for the 2016 debut album “Message From Eternity”.

And to their previous release, VIRTUAL SYMMETRY now tie up with the rich EP “X-Gate”. This new EP is also dominated by all the characteristic contrasting elements that make up the epic face of the completely thought-out songs, which partly take longer time.

With skillfully sharpened, but far-reaching, cinematic mood-sheets, the passionate Italian visionaries paint their tracks on the new 3-tracker.

These songs were composed with a special emphasis on a equal balance between melody and technique, in order to take the listeners on an exciting journey between varied dynamics and touching emotions.

With her wonderfully sensitive, seamlessly integrated vocals, 19-year-old Diane Lee, who sings mainly in the Swiss act Lost Journey, ensures highly moody, dreamy moments.

VIRTUAL SYMMETRY cite on “X-Gate” world-famous giants such as Dream Theater, Fates Warning, and Evanescence with the same independent devotion and love, as the band also pay homage to the respected work of exceptional musicians like Joe Satriani and Steve Vai.

The fact that despite the extensive musical range and the complex arrangements everything ultimately sounds like a single cast is the merit of the huge joy of the five-piece in liquid structures, finest details and accessible homogeneity.

Fabian Secon x 5ive Beatz

Fast-rising UK singer-songwriter Fabian Secon and producer 5ive Beatz have announced their forthcoming joint EP, Until We Meet Again, set to be released 16th June. The first taste of what to expect comes courtesy of “Rockstar”, a trap-infused R&B banger that showcases both artists’ greatest assets – Fabian’s richly soulful vocals and 5ive’s thumping bass-heavy beats.

Until We Meet Again is the follow-up to Fabian’s debut EP, Don’t Disturb, and sees the coming together of two artists from London, who have both taken major strides over the past 2 years.

Fabian was recently touted by Complex as an artist to watch in 2017 and has had support from a wealth of radio stations and industry tastemakers, such as Jamz Supernova and DJ Target at BBC Radio 1Xtra where “Sensei” was given BBC Introducing Single Of The Week honours by MistaJam, and Capital FM/Capital XTRA with “Gold Plated”, whilst his previous single “Lust” was featured on popular Spotify-curated playlists Slow Jamz and Fresh Finds: Fire Emoji. Upcoming collaborations with the likes of AJ Tracey, C Biz, Taya,Geovarn and Young T & Bugsey will only further solidify Fabian’s place at the forefront of the UK’s urban music scene.

Meanwhile, in-demand producer 5ive Beatz, Link Up TV’s recent #ProducerOfTheMonth, has seen his career skyrocket with multiple production credits on rapper Nines’ UK top 5 album One Foot Out, such as “Trapper of the Year”, as well as productions for BBC Sound Of 2017 winner Ray BLK, Krept & Konan, Stormzy, P Money, 67, Abra Cadabra and more.

“Our aim for Until We Meet Again was to fuse alternative R&B, pop rock and trap elements to create a fresh, progressive body of work. The EP tells the story of a turbulent and troubled relationship, so there are dark emotions that run throughout.” said Fabian.

The four-track EP was helmed in its entirety by 5ive Beatz (songwriter/producer) and Fabian Secon (songwriter/lead vocals) with co-writing from Fabian’s father – Grammy Award-nominated, multi-platinum selling songwriter and producer Lucas Secon (the son of American entrepreneur and Nat King Cole songwriter Paul Secon).

Matthew and Me

Matthew and Me have made their return with the stunning new single ‘Every Day’, released through Beatnik Records.

The South Devon duo of Matthew Board and Lucy Fawcett have been making huge strides forward with their wonderfully atmospheric soundscapes and poignant song-writing, and this new single ‘Every Day’ follows swiftly on from the band’s acclaimed ‘Startpoint’ EP, which surfaced late last year.

Built around soft synth lines, a delicately wistful vocal, and guitars lightly rushing in like brush strokes on canvas, ‘Every Day’ carries the listener through a journey that feels both equally familiar and fresh and exciting.

“Every Day evolved naturally from quite an intense creative period, born as most Matthew and Me songs are, from our own lived experiences. Having gone through a fairly sudden and traumatic personal loss at Christmas the song hopes to reflect on the love for that person, as well as not forgetting to love and appreciate the simple things in life that people tend to take for granted. It reflects how important it is to be happy in your day to day life”.

Since their emergence Matthew and Me have quickly found themselves winning widespread support from the likes of BBC Radio 1 (Huw Stephens), BBC 6Music (Lauren Laverne, Chris Hawkins, Tom Robinson, Radcliffe and Maconie) and Radio X (John Kennedy), alongside performing at a series of major UK festivals that include Glastonbury, Field Day, Blissfields, and the Sea Change Festival in Totnes which they also helped to run and curate.

‘Every Day’ is out now through Beatnik Records. Matthew and Me will also perform at London’s Servant Jazz Quarters on June 12th 2017 and Exeter Phoenix on June 16th 2017,
