Peep the latest music video from LAZYBLACKMAN. LAZYBLACKMAN is an Alt Hip-Hop Duo that hails from Pittsburgh, PA. Comprising of Singer/Rapper Lazy JP and notorious wordsmith Barz Blackman, LAZYBLACKMAN draws inspiration from places unique to the current landscape of Hip-Hop. When not rapping LAZYBLACKMAN prefers to spend their time watching David Lynch movies, Anime, and playing Sega Genesis. Their sound combines elements of Underground Hip-Hop and Indie Rock with the more contemporary style of a Kanye West or Kendrick Lamar, balancing lyricism, originality, and songcraft. They bring a raw and organic Punk-like energy to the stage designed to shock, awe, and entertain, making it a one of a kind experience the whole family can enjoy. This is their latest music video for “Fool’s Gold” sampling The Stone Roses song of the same name. Video directed by Lazy JP and shot by Overall Omniscience Production.

“Freaks” is the key in the ignition to get the party started. This record features a highly addictive hook and energetic flow over a futuristic bass-heavy beat. “Freaks” almost sounds like a infomercial for all freaks to come and join for a limited time while supplies last.

Envision Festival

Envision Festival – Costa Rica 2016 Brings Together Global Community For Sold Out Gathering

Glistening beaches, resplendent jungles, and the “pura vida” mantra served as the backdrop for the sixth annual, sold-out Envision Festival as 4,700 international attendees descended upon Rancho La Merced in Uvita, Costa Rica this past February 25 – 28, 2016.Uniquely distinguished from any other festival on the planet, Envisionaries united to partake in the festival’s utopian permaculture community, which inspires self-expression and conscious living through its regenerative infrastructure. World-class curation of music, art, live performance abound as yoga/movement classes and innovative workshops maintain an inclusive harmony within the sold-out event.

Hailed as one of the most fascinating festival experiences this planet has to offer, Envision exploded to life as nature collided with art in the form of incredible stages, driftwood sculptures, bamboo jungle gyms, and scores of smiling faces lounging in hammocks and tree pods. Sun-kissed days filled with mind-expanding workshops, philosophical discussions, yoga classes, short walks to the ocean, or a drive to a local waterfall transformed into celebratory tropical nights with an intoxicating musical lineup performing on one of four dazzling stages – Luna, Sol, Lapa, and The Village Stage.

For a stunning first look into the essence of Envision – check out the beautiful Envision Festival 2016 recap video filmed and edited by Ari Fararooy.

2016 welcomed expansions to the festival including Casa de Yoga, a new zone that included two permanently installed bamboo yoga temples, the Gaia fresh juice bar, the Kula Lounge offering cacao ceremonies, and a substance-free campground. Internationally known movement and yoga teachers included author and founder of Rachel Brathen, founder of the Goddess Yoga Project Sianna Sherman, celebrated 5Rhythms facilitator Amber Ryan, pioneer of the One Yoga movement in Trinidad and Tobago Troy Hadeed, co-founder of The Avahana School of Yoga Ashleigh Sergeant, and Mexico City’s Classic Hatha Yoga master Marcos Jassan. Kids activities were enjoyed in the Family Dream Oasis to entertain and educate Envision’s adventurous families. Envision also offered both pre and post festival educational retreats, under its new division ‘Envision Education’, which showcased everything from tours of Costa Rica to permaculture immersion, an herbal clinic intensive, and a post event yoga/detox/surfing Reboot Camp — more of these boutique-Envision experiences to come in 2017.

Bass-heavy artists such as Shpongle, The Human Experience, Dimond Saints, Spoonbill, and CloZee, performed on an imported Funktion1 soundsystem on the impressive Luna Stage.Designed by visionary artist Carey Thompson, Luna bellowed in the form of a towering mariposa (butterfly), incorporating 3D projection mapping by the famed Mexico City artist, Golem. Performances were viewable across the expansive field, where attendees could climb a massive, multi-level bamboo jungle gym or witness visionary live paintings by global muralists Ernest Doty, Hazul, Mario Belem, and Anderson Deberardi on the walkways leading to the Envision Art Gallery. Alongside the howler monkeys in the treetops, day-chasers welcomed the sun as they danced to Random Rab during his fabled, ethereal sunrise set.

The equally impressive Sol Stage featured complex psychedelic 3D mapping projected onto its sun centerpiece by Zebbler Studios. Sol hosted live music from California’s experimental, world-fusion band Beats Antique (Live), Saint Croix reggae legends Akae Beka (formerly Midnite), Costa Rica’s 80s synth-pop band Patterns (noted as a top band to see at SXSW 2016), Colorado-based folk musicians Elephant Revival, and Costa Rica’s stand out electro-fusion rock band (and surprise festival favorite) Santos y Zurdo offering one of the most unique sets of the weekend complete with electric sitar.House and techno music came alive on the more intimate Lapa stage, where legends such as Desert Hearts’ Lee Reynolds, tribal house leaders Bedouin, Berlin-based DJ and production duo, M.A.N.D.Y., progressive trance dub DJ Grouch, and Los Angeles-based deep house selector Tara Brooks, drew dancing revelers into its feathered domain.

In the heart of the festival grounds stood The Village, a bustling caravan of educational workshops, inspirational speakers, vendors, and the fresh produce Vida Market complete with the live music Village Stage, Tea House Lounge, and a women’s only Red Tent pavilion. The Village Stage hosted insightful and speakers such as nutritional expert David Wolfe, astrologer Kaypacha, City Repair Project’s Executive Director Marc Tobin, and sustainable living educator and Envision Co-Founder Stephen Brooks, plus live musical performances by Vir, Camilo, and Incus. The Witches Healing Sanctuary provided a unique communal healing and ceremony space for herbalists, body workers and educators to share therapeutic practices. Craft vendors boasted unconventional souvenirs with beautiful handcrafted jewelry, art, and clothing from across the Americas. Food vendors offered a selection of mouthwatering world cuisine and local dishes made from unprocessed, fresh food sourced from local farms.

Having successfully set itself apart from other music-driven festivals through its emphasis on soul empowerment and holistic living, Envision seeks to fulfill an inherent human desire to connect with like-minded individuals and feed the innate human need to be and live interconnected with nature. Don’t miss out on the chance to cross Envision Festival – Costa Rica off your bucket list. Tickets for the 2017 gathering taking place from Feb 23-26 are already on sale and are destined to sell out! Visit the Envision website to grab your Envision 2017 ticket and start planning the trip of a lifetime to experience the wonder of Envision on the tropical pacific coasts of Costa Rica.

stasis (noun, sta·sis \ st?-s?s, ?sta-\, plural sta·ses)

a) a state of static balance or equilibrium, stagnation

b) a state or period of stability during which little or no evolutionary change in a lineage occurs

Stasis, Khroma’s sophomore album and multi-faceted yet highly focused effort, sees the Helsinki, Finland based electro-metal group rise to the next level artistically, lyrically and politically, once again commenting on the state of our ever-widening digital environment, where access to technology can further disengage uneven power structures. Stasis is no more the norm.

From the enraged opening track ”Brace Yourself” to the harrowing anthem ”Wrong” and the epic conclusion ”Alarmists”, Khroma continues to push the boundaries of electronic alternative metal, a genre they reclaimed with their debut album Collapse in 2014. Instead of merely exploiting electronic influences or interludes, Stasis manifests the full synthesis of machine and man, live instrumentations entwined over its electronic core.

Written, produced, engineered and mixed by the band in their Helsinki and Berlin headquarters, Stasis is also the result of a tremendous independently achieved group effort. Following the release of the album Khroma will embark on an extensive one-month European tour, the longest the band has done so far.

Khroma line-up: Antti Honka, drums & visuals; Maarik Leppä, bass; Mikko Merilinna, guitars & keys; Riku Rinta-Seppälä, vocals & electronics

Stasis written, produced and engineered by Khroma. Mixed & mastered by Khroma & Joni Tanskala. Lyrics: Riku-Rinta Seppälä. ”The Push” & ”Acid On Skin” co-written and co-produced by Janne Aulavuori.

Face + Heel

Welsh duo Face + Heel soar back onto the scene to transport you to their formative years with their atmospheric album ‘Our Prince’s Quarry’, set to drop 15th April 2016.

The ethereal release features Luke Taylor and Sinead McMillan’s trademark electric-guitar fuelled, synth-infused sound, bridging the gap between electro-pop, dance and rock. Delving into the love/hate affair with his hometown of Aberystwyth in North Wales, lyricist Luke says of the album’s narrative that “Some of the instrument choices and structures are there to reflect what I was listening to growing up in the 90s in West Wales. It’s both in love with the place and has a sense of resentment at how remote and marginal it is and how every street has a memory of growing up; good or bad.”

The album opens with ‘Pier Video’, an ode to an art house video shop in the town, in which punching kick drum percussion, guitar riffs, plucking violins, distorted piano chords and autoharps are layered expertly to create an unmistakably analogue feel. In fact, Luke attests that “Some of the parts on the track were actually recorded onto a rental video from there that I never returned when I left.” Meanwhile, the upbeat ‘We Can Swim’, ‘Tripping At The Royal Welsh’ and title track ‘Our Prince’s Quarry’ allude to another major theme of the album; the tragic flooding of the nearby village of Dryweryn to make a reservoir for Liverpool in the 1960s. ‘We Can Swim’, reminiscent of OK Go meets Fat Segal, is a magical realism themed love song set in the doomed village “about two lovers; one who decides to stay, living underwater…and the other who decides to leave”.

The midway point of the album is marked by the climbing synths, stripped back percussion, haunting sax and tight bass of ‘In Your Room’, with Sinead’s soothing vocals floating gloriously over the top of the expert composition. The wall of guitar sound in ‘A Style Of Loving’, coupled with energetic percussion, gives the track a portentous feel, whilst ‘The Big Machine’ rounds off the release as a powerfully emotional acoustic track, with delicate piano and guitar riffs reminiscent of The Shadows allowing Luke and Sinead’s harmonised vocals to shine.

The album is accompanied by two remixes, with the first being an atmospheric reimagining of ‘We Can Swim’ by fellow Welsh artist Jauge, who has released on the likes of MTA Records, Food Music and Bad Panda Records. The second is an ominous techno-licked remix of ‘Pier Video’ by worriedaboutsatan, who have seen support from the likes of 6Music, BBC Radio 1, Resident Advisor and FACT. ‘Pier Video’ will also be accompanied by 90s inspired glitchy visuals, featuring static backing and analogue themed edited shots of the pair performing.

Having garnered past support from a host of platforms including Hillydilly, Pigeons and Planes, The 405, Dummy, The Line of Best Fit, Notion and Crack Magazine, Face + Heel have taken their unique blend of sound to the next level with ‘Our Prince’s Quarry’. The album oozes raw emotion, with soaring yet intimate vocals and unique production creating a cohesive release that looks set to be their strongest yet.

The Joy Formidable

The Joy Formidable are happy to share their latest album Hitch, out today via their own record label C’Mon Lets Drift in partnership with Caroline (US), Orchard/ Membran (Europe) and MapleMusic (Canada!) Recently described by Rolling Stone as “wickedly bracing and Himalaya-huge,” the fantastic live band went to work on their third studio album with one mission: to make sure their unique live performance and energy was captured on record. “We realized we needed to build a space and do it ourselves, go back to being three people in a room again” said Ritzy Bryan regarding the band’s decision to self-produce and engineer the new album.

No stranger to boundary pushing topics, The Joy Formidable also recently premiered their entirely NSFW music video for their first single ‘The Last Thing On My Mind.’ Ritzy explains “It’s a song about freedom, about feeling alive & a part of that is about sexual liberation too, which is why we wanted to make a music video from the perspective of a heterosexual female gaze. It shows men in many forms, being free, being sexy, being watched, it’s beautiful and provocative and is some small attempt to re address the existing imbalance of perspective and nudity in music videos.”

The entire album is coherent with one theme; the desire to find their place, making this album their most vulnerable work to date. Ritzy states “There was a deep longing towards the end of the last touring cycle; kind of a nostalgia and a romance about going home. We were chasing a sense of belonging. I don’t necessarily think you need too much of that in life, either – I’m quite happy feeling like things are constantly fucking changing – but as you get a little bit older, you start thinking about what you’ve missed back home, and the melancholy that comes from that was important on this album.”

Hitch features exclusive artwork by Ralph Steadman and anyone who orders the album from the band’s web store will receive bonus track “Passerby” (not available on the album.)
