III Points Music, Art, & Technology Festival is thrilled to announce its 2016 lineup, with a stacked roster of talent in its fourth year running. III Points presents its most impressive lineup yet, with exciting news that Miami will witness a rare, exclusive performance by Grammy-nominated LCD Soundsystem, a show marking the band’s only Florida appearance of the year. Following a 5-year hiatus, LCD Soundsystem will take the stage at III Points in a distinct, boutique festival setting, where guests will be graced by the dance-punk icons for a special musical journey. ninetyfour

3e654355-b28d-48f5-9536-2be69d67ee4e

Following the recent release of his video “Do You” last week, as promised, Vancouver’s ninetyfour returns with his 10-track album, It’s Yours. Serving as his debut project, It’s Yours embarks on a journey of self-actualization and an artistic reflection of ninetyfour’s life, shifting moods from establishing who he is. to not caring about what you think, and finally, new chapters when relationships end. He describes songs like “Just Like That” as a new take on old and new school stories, while “Got It” introduces grit into the project, followed by the self-serving “Bonafide” and the positively charged “Happy.” Without a doubt It’s Yours tells a coming of age tale – but for once, this chapter in ninetyfour’s life has a happy ending.

“I’m at a time and place where I feel my time should be valued and respected more. I’m caught up in my craft and music. [Songs like] “Happy” is me expressing on how I feel about the nay-sayers and people who continuously doubt you, or people who say good job but it kills them inside, and I let you know that while I’m no where close to being happy with where I’m at or even the level I’ve reached musically, I’m in it for the long run. I’m feeling finally free from whatever was capturing my mind weather it was a toxic relationship, bad friends or addictions. The project closes out with me reflecting on whatever new opportunity / relationship / friend I have, and is me simply chanting, “It’s Yours.” – ninetyfour

Half Empty

f819feff-7836-4e9d-bcf9-393e32e2a8d6

Up-and-Coming bass producer Half Empty drops massive debut EP, titled ‘Hearts, Lies, and Friends’, with huge collaboration from Gorestep King himself – Borgore. Available now for purchase via Beatport, iTunes, and Spotify.

For those who are unaware of Half Empty’s name, you may have seen it pop up on Borgore’s “Goddess” track featuring hip hop annihilator Pouya, or even more recently in Terravita’s new The Fallen EP in “Bad Boy”. He’s now back with his very first EP, showcasing his genre-bending skills as he coherently moves from ambient synths to aggressive bass lines. Borgore makes an appearance as they “Keep It Weird” in this heavy bass-house tune with your typical gorestep growls.

This is only the beginning for Half Empty and can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store for him.

Arms

The wonderful video for the album’s slow jam, “Stellary” has premiered. Directed by Lavinia Jones Wright, the video features dancing skeletons, Goldstein in X-Ray Specs, and more. Says the outlet, “The ARMS mastermind describes his latest work as ‘an R&B love song,’ but there’s a sinister undercurrent that transforms all those typical hallmarks of R&B — the falsetto singing, the heavy back-and-forth beat — into something more dreadful and, dare we say, more delicious.

Jasmine Cain

5de233c4-e3d7-4d2c-a60b-949e66a69813

Today, current Nashville Industry Music Awards (NIMA) Alternative Rock Band of the Year vocalist/bassist and motorcycle rally queen JASMINE CAIN releases her new album White Noise via 3Thirteen Music/eOne Music. You can order White Noise now here. White Noise was produced by Mills Logan (Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan, Toby Keith), Jasmine Cain and Lincoln Parrish (Cage the Elephant), and features JASMINE CAIN members Zach Ballard and Benjamin Johnson on drums and lead guitar, respectively.

White Noise Track Listing:
1. Coming In Hot
2. White Noise
3. Break Even
4. Hole
5. Fools Gold, featuring Jeff Labar (Cinderella)
6. Good Life
7. Into The Grey, featuring Gerry Finn (Killer Dwarfs)
8. Nightingale
9. 1995
10. Any Given Sunday, featuring Jeff Labar (Cinderella)
11. Fall To Rise, featuring Ralph Saenz (Steel Panther) & Charlie Parra Del Riego (Kobra and the Lotus)

This is, by far, JASMINE CAIN’s strongest album to date. Having self-released four albums prior to White Noise, the songwriting has reached its pinnacle. With so many miles behind and so many miles left to travel, the Sturgis, SD nativehas paved a way for female rockers in the motorcycle culture. As JPF Female Artist of the Year and Nashville’s Music City Mayhem (MCMA) four-time Female Rock Vocalist (in addition to the aforementioned Nashville Industry Music Award), Cain has set the standard and raised the bar. Living her life through her songs and gypsy spirit like a modern day Janis Joplin, she is a ghost on the road sitting next to you as you take your own musical journey.

Cain states, “White Noise was a fun challenge for me because for the first time, we were writing songs together as a band and we only had two weeks to complete the writing process. I’ve never been put under the gun that hard and it forced me to get really focused and stay that way. My entire life had to be shut off. With that being said, I was very skeptical of the lyrics sound contrived and forced, but much to my surprise, and the surprise of everyone else, the songs happened effortlessly. Only a few times can I remember getting tripped up on a part or lyric and hitting a wall. But I just didn’t force it. I started a new chapter and just wrote something else until that came to me. Most days I was just shooting ideas at the wall, but occasionally we would hit a vein and write two or three songs that day. It was really amazing to be able to do that. You don’t really know if you can until you have no other choice.”

With four previously self-released albums The Inside (2004), Locks & Keys (2008), Highway Prophet (2011), Modern Day Gypsy (2012)and now White Noise, JASMINE CAIN has sold over 30,000 albums, and gained 5,000 views in the first week of her music video alone. She holds eight JPF awards–the most awards ever to be awarded to any one artist from the JPF Association. Her performances are stadium-quality rock shows to audiences of 1,000-5,000 on average.

Pyramid Tropic

Pyramid Tropic is made up of JUNO nominated Will Whitwham and multi-talented producer/instrumentalist Matthew Fudge. Whitwham is known as the singer/songwriter of Toronto-based indie pop band Wilderness of Manitoba while Fudge is recognized for designing music production software used by programmers working with Bjork, Nine Inch Nails and Austra. Fuelled by late nights in basement studios and frequent runs to local cafés for coffee, Pyramid Tropic’s music is percussive, synth-based dance music. The creative and caffeine rush has resulted in a flood of tracks being completed in their respective studios. Their international approach recently led them to perform in Berlin and in Hamburg at the Reeperbahn Festival.

With years of experience under their belt, JUNO award nominee Will Whitwham (Wilderness of Manitoba) and producer/multi-instrumentalist Matthew Fudge (Grand Analog/Alphacub) have teamed up to bring some fresh sounds to the dance music scene. With beats that’ll get you moving and irresistibly catchy hooks, Pyramid Tropic’s percussive, synth-based music sets them apart from other artists.

Bows

Bows2byEmilyHayward&MartaDymek (3)

Bows, featuring Kaila McIntyre-Bader (vocals, keys) and Luke Bace (bass, guitar, synths), was born via a rebirth of sorts. The night before the duo was set to fly out to CMJ for a series of showcases with their other band Big Tree, McIntyre-Bader took a spill while riding her bike and broke both of her elbows. Unable to play the piano, McIntyre-Bader began to experiment with new sounds on her computer and challenged Bace to replicate them on his synthesizers. As McIntyre-Bader’s titular “Bows” began to heal, what started as a side project quickly turned into their primary project.

The Day We Left, as described best by the band, “is a concept album about post-apocalyptic space travel, conspiracy, and adventure. Ripped from the arms of her dying love, our protagonist must leave a radioactive Earth and settle into a new colony that the government has set up in a distant galaxy. Faced with grief and a totalitarian society, she tries to figure out if the “alien” voices in her head are real, and if she can keep quiet as humankind once again begins to destroy itself and the new planet.”

The first full-length offering from Bows is teased by lead single “Farewell Song” and is available for streaming here. Stay tuned for more leading up to the release of The Day We Left later this Spring.

Dobken studied jazz drumming, vocals, guitar and theory at Bard College. Her music is raw and honest, personal yet relatable. Sweet Jean

689d8660-f9e4-4788-aa3f-02e7006a20c2

Melbourne outfit Sweet Jean released their new album ‘Monday to Friday’ recently. Co-written by Sime Nugent & Alice Keath, the album ranges from expansive, vintage synth-driven songs about space exploration to jangly, straight-shooting narratives of everyday life.’Monday to Friday’ is a collection of 10 elegant songs that build on Sweet Jean’s reputation for evocative songwriting and razor-sharp harmonies, balancing deft lyricism and poetic references with crisp pop gems and candid observations. The pair demoed the songs in their home studio and then worked closely with producer, friend and band mate John Castle (Vance Joy, Washington, The Bamboos) at The Shed Studios, swapping instruments, eating ramen, and nutting out arrangements.

Sweet Jean’s debut album Dear Departure was released in July 2013 to widespread acclaim Dear Departure, having received airplay in the US & Europe and Sweet Jean have toured extensively in Australia and overseas with performances in Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, and Canada. The pair has also been working individually on projects in theatre, design, and radio, with Alice appearing on Paul Kelly’s Seven Sonnets & A Song mini-album, and Sime set to release a new album with two time ARIA nominated group The Wilson Pickers later this year.
On writing the album Monday to Friday, the duo explains “in the past we’ve written about other people in other times and places, and for this album we wanted to stay in the here and now and write about some of the significant and insignificant things that are rolling around us. For our first album we worked on happy/sad. This time we wanted to bring big/small to the table.”

Sweet Jean’s new single ‘Everything Changes’ has the smokey nocturnal sound of standing on the side of the road at closing time and all the what ifs and what nows that come with that.
“A lot of the songs on Monday to Friday speak to the contrast between the vast and the minuscule, the profound and insignificant, facts and feelings; growing up and realising how fallible our beliefs, memories, and aspirations are in a post-Santa reality, and where to look for that wonder we all seem to need once we realise we’re just monkeys wearing runners. We didn’t want to explain it as we’re no closer to knowing, but it was good to let ourselves hang out there for a while.” Building on Sime & Alice’s natural chemistry as a duo, Sweet Jean will be hitting the road in July for a national tour with their tight-knit live band, which includes producer and multi-instrumentalist John Castle, stay tuned for tour dates.

Tasty Treat

8bf49196-c19e-465d-9e97-65af19bde03c

Being able to stand out in a super-saturated market has been more difficult with every passing soundcloud repost. Incorporating relevant styles with one’s distinct sound can be a difficult task. Luckily for California based duo TastyTreat, this doesn’t pose as problem as seen in their buygore debut EP Wayward, available now for purchase via Beatport, iTunes, & Spotify.

Taking a sharp turn from their previous melodic, feel-good NeonAffect EP, TastyTreat brings alive aggressive verses with features from K theory’s Malcolm Anthony, & up-and-coming hip hop enthusiasts Gino Driggs & YLTI all on top of heavy 808’s yet still throwing in glittery TastyTreat arpeggios.

The momentum is strong with this duo and there’s no slowing down anytime soon.

Meredith

MeredithWEB_3

Brisbane electronic artist Meredith is gearing up to release her long-awaited debut EP, Nostalgia (Fri Jun 17) – to be launched at Black Bear Lodge on June 23.

Complex and unnassuming, vulnerable and empowered; Nostalgia is a debut ripe with honesty. It’s an exploration of the human condition on a personal, almost claustrophobic level – so don’t be surprised if you feel a sharp tug of a few heartstrings you didn’t even know you had anymore. There’s no holding back here – current single ‘How Could You Believe That’ delves into the dark consequences that toxic, mentally manipulative relationships can have on a social circle.

Moglebaum

95ed6434-851d-4d33-8d07-9a3beae38dbf

Organic electronic 5-piece Moglebaum has just released a divine new single “Raindrops” – a soulful, warbling slice of auditory heaven. Vibrant, pulsating synth, glorious rhythms, and a smooth, melodic saxophone feature throughout the track create a textured explosion of electronic and acoustic sounds.

Organic electronic beats, vocal-samples and the sound of analogue synthesizers a la` Flume & James Blake meet soulful vocals, violin and saxophone, all merging together to create intricately detailed, futuristic pop-music.

The music is driving, melancholic, surprising. Most of the samples are self-made, with the help of field recordings of coffee machines, shopping bags or cactuses. Main influences include “Bonobo”, “Caribou” and “Sohn”.

San Mei

SanMeiPressSmall

Swiftly following up the release of her recent single ‘Revel’, Gold Coast’s own alternative-pop connoisseur San Mei returns. Teaming up with local Brisbane-via-Berlin producer Zapéd to share a groove, new disco inspired remix of ‘Revel’, a track that has landed praise from taste-maker international and Australian media, as well as strong support from triple j and triple j Unearthed. To support the release of ‘Revel’ (and the remix), San Mei also announced her first show for 2016 as part of the fourth instalment of female-focussed night ‘Brisbabes’ July 16th, showcasing the best in current female acts from across the country.

Zapéd is originally the bedroom project of Brisbane producer Jordan De Pas, focussing on the exploration in melody and rhythm. Evolving into what has been described as ‘future groove with intelligence and character’ Zapéd has drawn comparisons to Flume, Disclosure and Chet Faker – but retains an unmistakable r’n’b flavour underpinned by monster beats and melodic ambience. Zapéd has already shared the stage with Baths, The Kite String Tangle and Glass Animals.

The remix is streaming now on Soundcloud, and will be available at all digital stores from May
27th.
