Music journalists get hit with a steady helping of press releases every day. For the music fan without that kind of sensory overload, a lot of music news can pass by without being seen. Every Friday, we will weed through and compile a list of some of the most intriguing press releases to come across our virtual desk.

Rooney’s long awaited new album ‘Washed Away’ is out today! Pandora premiered the album earlier this week, stream it HERE.. The twelve song LP features singles “My Heart Beats 4 U,” which MTV called “a stadium-ready beat, and “Why,” a sticky sweet duet with french singer Soko. Washed Away is available now across all digital retailers and streaming partners via Beachwood Park Music.

After stellar performances on the fourth season of NBC’s The Voice and Telemundo’s Yo Soy El Artista (I am the Artist), native Bronx (New York) songstress, Cáthia, returns to the industry with new single “Volar” (Fly). The single was produced by acclaimed producer JEAN, known for his work with music icons such as: Prince Royce, Shakira, Alejandro Sanz, Don Omar, Daddy Yankee, Wisin y Yandel, and Luis Fonsi, among others.

Cáthia managed to impress millions of viewers through her performances on both television shows a couple of years back. Under the guidance and supervision of Usher and Shakira, Cáthia had an artistic and personal transformation that is reflected in this vibrant song. And after much anticipation, the day has come for her fans to indulge in her new single, “Volar”.

“Volar” is the first single from her debut 3-song EP also titled Volar, produced alongside JEAN. Càthia was involved in every step of the musical production, proof that she is much more than just a talented singer.

May will be a defining month for Cáthia’s musical career, besides premiering the single “Volar”, she will also release the EP and do a promo run in both New York and Miami.

Cáthia has been dubbed “The little girl with a big voice” and while this is true, she is much more than that. Mesmerizing, motivated and possessed of an undeniable star power, Cáthia is a young woman positively at the forefront of her artistry and her destiny. Her voice is captivating and “Volar” is further proof that her place in music on an international level is reserved and ready to be claimed!

RhymeFest LA

On April 30, LA hip-hop fans headed downtown to catch the unique and dope lineup mix of East and West Coast artists at RhymeFest LA fueled by Monster Energy. Hosted by Supernatural, a DJ set by Garth Trinidad that featured Prince songs (RIP) kicked off the night and Jarren Benton next repped ATL and Funk Volume with a live band. Grouch and Eligh followed later in the night (after a quick meet and greet before their set), making the audience “Say G&E” and De La Soul kept the crowd rolling into the early hours of the morning, playing classic and new songs from their upcoming Kickstarter funded album. With the opportunity to cop free prizes like skate decks throughout the night via raffle, the night was a win-win for everyone.

MAHD has been quietly working on new music and decided to release this Black Milk produced heater. Stay tuned for more new music in the near future.

Tales in Space

Tales in Space return with a bang via ‘Stormy Eyes’, the first single from their forthcoming second LP. The track, which premiered on Tone Deaf, delivers a combination of colourful chords and upbeat grooves, while dusted with a dark undertone of lo-fi production.

Luke Bertoz, the mastermind behind Tales In Space, has kept a low profile of late since the late 2014 release of first album ‘Formula’, which housed a collection of hard-hitting pop tunes like ‘Shades’. The single won the global The John Lennon Song writing competition, was nominated as a finalist in the Vanda & Young songwriting competition, and received high rotation on triple j. Off the back of these myriad successes, Tales In Space embarked on a massive run of tours including shows with The Cairos, Kingswood, and Stonefield.

With a first single as irresistibly charming as ‘Stormy Eyes’, the skies are looking clear and sunny for album number two’s release later this year.

Fabian Secon

British singer-songwriter Fabian Secon delivers his latest offering entitled “No Games”, available to stream now via Soundcloud. This brand new, solo version of “No Games” is Fabian’s own take on a track that was originally a collaboration between Solo LDN and Fabian, which had a visual shot in Toronto, Canada.

Born in South London, raised in Brixton, 18 year-old Fabian has been creating a name for himself with records such as, “Red Light” and “Gold Plated” that have been well received online.

“No Games” comes on the back of “Pull Up”, Fabian’s latest collaboration with hip-hop collective House of Pharaohs.

It’s been 17 years since their debut album “Looking Behind the Mirror…” was released. The waiting is now over and their second full length album Arlechino is released today.

The album has 9 songs (plus a bonus track) focusing on the drama, life contrasts and inner struggles of the soul, a psychological puzzle “like an Arlechino act”. Created on triple plan the concept brings the evolution of the human spirit.

In fact, the album is a transposition of universal evolution of the human spirit. This mixture of feelings and emotions is revealed by theatrical voices and supported by the symphonic orchestra combined with dark and atmospheric passages and with the intriguing sounds of an anvil.

Album’s artwork was designed by Costin Chioreanu (Paradise Lost, Arcturus, Mayhem, Vader, Ulver, At the Gates and many others), a very special artist who understood immediately Kratos’ album concept, creating a very relevant and wonderful cover.
