Katie Herzig

Katie Herzig has released a music video for “Feel Alive,” the moving and uplifting new single from her upcoming album, Moment of Bliss. “Feel Alive” is available to view at YouTube, and the single can be found at all digital music outlets. Moment of Bliss is expected in early 2018 on Marion-Lorraine Records.

“I wrote ‘Feel Alive’ when a friend of mine was grieving the loss of her mom,” recalls Herzig. “Having lived through that a few years prior, I wished I could offer some sort of comfort from the other side of that grief. I have since discovered how relevant this song is for anyone trying to get through a difficult time. It’s a musical offering of hope and strength, and a reminder that light waits on the other side of any dark time.”

Making “Feel Alive”
Reflecting on the making of the video, Herzig says, “This video features hand lettering and painting by my sister Annie Herzig, who is a wonderful illustrator. Knowing this song holds a special place in her heart, I asked her if she’d be up for helping me make a lyric video. What came next was some serious free-form collaboration and experimenting on both our parts.”

Over the next several days on Facebook, in the spirit of sharing and being vulnerable with others, Herzig is inviting those who feel moved to share how they relate to this song. Katie says, “It’s about finding hope & encouragement & light on the other side of a loss or a dark/difficult time. If you are inspired by this, please come share a story or a dedication or reflection. We will pick a few of our favorites and those people will receive a very special hand-made & autographed ‘Feel Alive’ song lyric piece of artwork with hand-written lyrics and illustrations from the video.”

The way to ‘submit’ is to leave a comment on the Feel Alive Lyric Video Facebook post or you can share the video on your own timeline with your story (tag it with #MyFeelAliveStory). “If you choose to partake — thank you in advance for your vulnerability. This week has shown us the power of sharing our stories and reminding us we are not alone.”

Miles Bonny

What started out as a simple email exchange between a young, hungry beatmaker and a seasoned player in the worlds of jazz and midwestern indie hip-hop, has resulted in a vibrant record nearly a decade in the making. On one side of new EP, “Let It Out,” sits Miles Bonny, a long time musical collaborator who spent his youth soaking in powerful musical moments in NYC under the tutelage of his trumpet-slinging father, Francis Bonny, and later as a teen immersed in New York’s busy indie-hip-hop scene. As he grew up Miles cemented himself a niche in the Midwest, most notably in Lawrence, Kansas where tireless forays into beatmaking led to the founding of the much-loved INnatesounds Crew and record label, as well as a series of solo releases and collaborative projects.

Eventually shifting his focus to his own vocal stylings, it wasn’t long before Miles caught the attention of the international music community, including the young, curious ears of the at time unknown, soon-to-be future R&B sensation Ta-Ku. Through a series of emails and conversations, Ta-Ku asked to send Miles beats and the two planned to work on a series of tracks. From there the pair developed a friendship that was built upon mutual encouragement and a creative admiration between two artists both navigating their own personal and professional responsibilities.

A record Okayplayer describes as “emotive, evocative and intimate, the “Let It Out” EP, released on Brooklyn’s Bastard Jazz Recordings, acts as the culmination of such an intimate and organic journey. Recorded by Miles in Kansas City during a time he was experiencing the oft-turbulent tasks of true adulthood, the record focus on the life of a young father, underpinned by how we often bottle up difficult emotions and creativity when the pressures of today’s complicated world reach fever pitch. Brimming with emotive, intimate lyrics from Miles spread amidst Ta-Ku’s soul-drenched beat work and syrupy future grooves, the EP will hit close to home for anyone whose daily lives calls for a much needed dose of personal reflection and chilled-out decompression.

Saints of Valory

Showing no sign of cooling down after the release of their summer single, “Set it on Fire,” Austin-based rockers, Saints of Valory, are back with their latest release, “Red Smoke.”

Another sizzling hot track, “Red Smoke” was written as a love story – two people reminiscing about the days when they were wild and young.”

“I wanted the lyrics to be raw,” shares lead singer, Gavin Jasper. “It’s about lust, love and midnight escapades. It was equally as important that the music helped paint the portrait of what an uninhibited teenage fantasy would sound like. I’ve always been intrigued by what life would be like if I had lived my young teenage years in a different country or culture.”

On December 2, Saints of Valory will join Imagine Dragons, Dashboard Confessional and Banners at the annual 93.3 KTCL Not So Silent Night holiday concert in Colorado. The show will be held at the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, and you can grab your tickets here.

Formed in 2010, Saints of Valory is comprised of Gavin Jasper (Vocals), Godfrey James (Guitar) and Stephen Buckle (Keys). In November of that year, the band self-released their debut The Bright Lights, which featured an early version of their track “Providence”. The track entered the top 50 at Triple A radio, making the band the only unsigned artist to reach the upper tier of the chart. Then, in May 2012, the band released their second EP, Kids, which landed on iTunes’ Top Rock Albums Chart in its first week.

After being named one of Billboard’s Top Unsigned Artists in 2012, Saints of Valory announced their signing to Atlantic Records.

Their debut EP for Atlantic, Possibilities, included the single “Neon Eyes,” which was featured on Billboard, MTV Buzzworthy and charted top 5 at Triple A Radio. The band has performed at Coachella, Austin City Limits, Summerfest, Rock In Rio and opened for the Rolling Stones at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Animal Years

Animal Years - Far From Home EP Art

Animal Years, the Pop-Rock-Americana band comprised of Mike McFadden (vocals / guitar), Anthony Saladino (bass) and Anthony Spinnato (drums), have released the video for their single, “Caroline.” “Caroline” is the lead single from the upcoming EP, Far From Home, to be released 10/27 on eOne Records. This EP is the follow up to the debut record, Sun Will Rise, which gained widespread critical acclaim from media outlets including American Songwriter, Relix, PopWrapped and more.

Produced by Ryan Hadlock, renowned for his work with The Lumineers, Brandi Carlile and Vance Joy, Far From Home offers a compelling distillation of the Brooklyn-by-way-of-Baltimore trio’s “amazing roots rock [with] sweet melodies that really shine” (Huffington Post), and ranges from the infectiousness of “Caroline” to the introspective warmth of “Friends” to the bittersweet buoyancy of “Home (I Was Born).”

In anticipation of the EP, the band spent the better part of this year on the road, including an appearance at Firefly Festival. “Caroline” has gained traction at radio and online, recently cracking the top 100 at AAA and racking up half a million streams on Spotify. 2018 will see the release of a full-length album and another national tour.

Modern Error

After releasing their debut single ‘Buried And Blue’, ‘Modern Error’ has just released their second single ‘Funeral Verse’ via the Dreambound Youtube channel. The song is a huge contrast to their previous single, giving more of an indication on where the shape of the band is heading.

This is the band’s second visual representation of their music. Dedicated to making art, ‘Modern Error’ have made sure their visuals depicted the song correctly and stand up to what is current, resulting in pleasing videos and graphics.

Micky Diana

Micky Diana has acted alongside Sheridan Smith & Hollywood actor Jamie Bell, & performed as ‘Hurts’ lead backing vocalist. BBC introducing track of the day

Micky has since performed in several plays, musicals and operas from Whistle down the wind to Hamlet and Phantom of the opera to name but a few, in Londons west-end and accross the globe.

He has also worked as pop group “Hurts” lead backing singer.

Micky first ventured into songwriting ,and lyrics especially as a teenager, primarily as an MC to Drum & Bass and Jungle music. Holding residencies on Pirate stations, whilst performing sets in clubs and raves before he was legally old enough to set foot in the building. Then developing his songwriting at the piano into more contemporary styles.

The varied and eclectic mix of music Micky has been involved in in his career has undoubtedly influenced his unique style in songwriting and vocal delivery.

Micky’s brass clad style of indie pop/rock has a well balanced mix of intoxicating vocal melodies, fast paced quick witted lyrics which are a must hear for music lovers of many genres. With an almost urban element to his vocals, think Jamie T mixed with a hint of Maverick Sabre, with a hint of Ray Davis and a pinch of Damon Albarn’s observant wit and you’re not far off.

Micky’s debut single “Run with me” was mixed and mastered by Greg Brooker. The single has already been featured as BBC introducings track of the day is a real rock anthem, about escapism, individuality and freedom of expression.

He was inspired to write this song whilst acting in a play on tour in Northern Ireland.

Surrounded by debates about the not so forgotten troubles, abortion rights and ridiculously , the banning of homosexuals in public places. Micky felt compelled to pen his frustrations.

The Official music video for “Run with me”, set in a futuristic psychiatric hospital is the perfect setting/concept to visually portray that universal need to escape.

Space Cadets

Formed in 2012, Space Cadets craft a unique mix of chill urban vibes and grooving acoustic blues rock on their new single, “Way Too Loud.” The Los Angeles band, comprised of Zachary Wexelman, Dan Creed, and John Cocco came together to create a sound that marries some choice inspirations including blues and hip hop with hints of alternative rock. Their addictive and unique style doesn’t just stop at their records, as their high energy performances have captured the attention of audiences throughout Los Angeles at venues like The Kibitz Room and The Hotel Cafe, as well as across the country. On their upcoming EP, “Let The Kids Play!” they dive deeper into their eclectic sound, creating music that’s both reminiscent and present at the same time with the help of CJ Blair.

Space Cadets’ new track “Way Too Loud” packs a powerful message with an unforgettable hook. The smooth groove that permeates “Way Too Loud” creates an instant, unforgettable earworm. Its infectious chorus, littered with moments rooted deeply in hip-hop influences, includes a vibrant mix of acoustic and electric guitars, and an unstoppable rhythmic atmosphere. The bright and airy feel of the track itself lightens up the heavy handed lyrics, which paint a poignant picture of the power of hate. This introspective look at embracing positivity to do away with negative emotions is well timed and perfectly poetic.

“‘Way Too Loud’ is a song written out of frustration. It comes from the dark place within where hate, apathy and feelings of worthlessness fester beneath the surface. While it does not offer an antidote for the brokenhearted, it does provide an outlet for the struggle against anger and mortality.”

Jacob Faurholt

Jacob Faurholt (born November 6, 1978) is one of Denmark’s most prolific songwriters. Now based in Copenhagen Faurholt releases music both solo and under the moniker Crystal Shipsss. His music ranges from lo-fi home recordings, 90es inspired indie rock to ambient drone metal.

A Lake of Distortion, Faurholt’s 6th solo album, is a collection of fragile folk songs and fuzzy lo-fi pop carefully sequenced to work as a whole. It consists of 10 twisted love songs filled with joy and anxiety. The album was mainly written, recorded & mixed in Faurholt’s bedroom (in between work and other daily obligations) and the intimacy and urgency from that setting is apparent throughout the album. After recording the basic tracks Faurholt invited musician friends to work on the songs, among others Soren Brothers (Man Meets Bear), William Kudahl (Infants), Claus Frøhlich (Younolovebunny), Samuel Gray (Sam Gray Singing) and Jens Christian Madsen (Tjaere+Fjer). The recorded tracks were exchanged between them by e-mail. The albums short, melodic and fragile songs draws references to Bee Thousand era Guided By Voices, early Sparklehorse, and Daniel Johnston who is namedropped on the albums last song “Listening To Devil Town”.

Up-and-coming contemporary jazz act Bahla will self-release their debut album Imprints on December 8th. Breaking new ground with their unique mix of cinematic jazz entangled with Jewish folklore, the London-based 5-piece outfit will launch the project with a show at St. Mary’s Music Hall in Walthamstow, London on December 7th.

Formed by Venezuelan pianist Joseph Costi and English guitarist Tal Janes while studying together in London, their meeting un-earthed a sound world of Jewish folk melodies hidden in their memories from childhood, albeit in two different corners of the world. They curiously began researching and learning about the wide spread geography and history of the music, ranging from North-African rhythms, liturgical melodies and yiddish art songs from Russia. Bahla was born to bring their findings to life.

Imprints is a collection of 8 songs inspired by different stories of identity, migration and displacement. The music is home to many different influences ranging from Radiohead to Polar Bear and Shai Maestro, but has kept Jewish folk traditions at its core. Music and culture are joined at the hip and particularly in the current climate, Bahla have been driven to show that it is not only possible for different cultures to meet peacefully, but these moments of collaboration can lead to something new and exciting. Across the album, a distinctive palette is underset by a bold and dynamic rhythm section, while radiant vocals – echoing the modal form of Jewish prayer music – rise and fall over searching, delicate melodies on keys and guitar.

Since their debut performance at the late BBC Proms, Bahla have kept a busy schedule including performances at the London Jazz Festival and Brecon Jazz Festival, and will support the release of Imprints with a number of UK shows in 2018:

Hit Like A Girl

Hit Like A Girl

Formerly operating under the acoustic-focused moniker For Those Who Cannot See, Montclair-based artist Nicolle Maroulis is now stepping out with a bold new sound as Hit Like A Girl. Maroulis, who identifies as non-binary shared in an extensive feature with New Noise Magazine, “I’ve noticed there are band names that are gender-specific that don’t identically match the genders of the band members, but I also don’t really believe gender exists at all at the end of the day. I’m hoping to have this whole ‘Rosie The Riveter’ feel to us.”

With that, Hit Like A Girl is now sharing their debut album, You Make Sense, a collection of eight deeply personal odes to love and love lost with a rock sound reminiscent of Waxahatchee, Jay Som or Soccer Mommy.

“The name of the record actually has a short story behind it,” Maroulis reveals. “I used to live in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, which is a very pretty town. One day, I rode my bike to the nearest Starbucks to get some coffee and just clear my head a little. There’s a little creek that runs behind it that I’d like to sit down by and drink my coffee. I was there one day, and I looked up at the wall, and written in very small text was: ‘you make sense.’ It all clicked in my head. I went home immediately to touch up all the songs I’d started but never finished. Some of these songs are a few years old, but most of them I wrote for the record, and they’re all mostly about some girl—typical. I was only with this girl for about a month, and we never even established a physical relationship, just an emotional one. I felt like she was the most compatible person I’ve ever been with, so when she decided to call it off, it really messed me up.”

Zero Theorem

Los Angeles-native heavy rockers ZERO THEOREM have made a name for themselves by releasing top quality tracks and performing high octane sets as an independent force. Producing a dynamic, haunting and penetrating brew of anthemic rock songwriting and vocals with earworm-worthy metal riffs, ZERO THEOREM have scored the attention of fans in and outside of their local area.

In August, ZERO THEOREM turned heads with the release of their rock solid EP, Ataraxis, available via iTunes. Today, the band is thrilled to premiere their mysterious outerspace action-laden music video for the EP’s standout track, “Area”. The video was directed by Brian Cox of Flarelight Films.

“The track ‘Area’ reflects the importance of one’s identity and will,” explains vocalist Caesar. “Every meaningful relationship, environment, or belief-system carries with it the potential to experience this basic struggle anew.”

Originally formed in 2013, ZERO THEOREM was conceived as the artistic expression of a shared affinity for music, philosophy, and satire. “Our influences range from the satirical comedy of Mel Brooks to the pessimistic philosophy of Arthur Schopenhauer,” says Caesar.

ZERO THEOREM was initially developed as a cross-country collaboration between two cousins, Caesar and Joseph Scarlotti, when they began writing by sending digital files to one another from Chicago and Los Angeles. Caesar soon relocated to LA, with the pair completing the initial demos and recruiting the remainder of the band.

The band began work on the Ataraxis EP in August of 2016 with producer Kane Churko (Papa Roach, Five Finger Death Punch, In This Moment). “Our experience with Kane has definitely been the highlight of our efforts thus far,” says Caesar. “Kane is immeasurably talented and has made us better songwriters by helping to emphasize our strengths and explore new territory.”

You can catch ZERO THEOREM live as they perform with Motograter at a 21+ show at Santa Ana, CA’s Malones on November 18. Learn more and locate tickets via

The Cherry Dolls

Australia’s rising stars, indie/punk band The Cherry Dolls release their utterly wonderful track ‘Blister’ as a lead in to the release of their album ‘Viva Los Dolls’ on Golden Robot Records on November 24th.

This mellow, wistful single is a sublime tune from The Cherry Dolls, a melancholic touch of brilliance infiltrating their normally more full on punky stylings. Simply stunning & one not to be missed.

“Raw dog dirty realness as Rock ‘n’ Roll should be! I would describe this band as heavily influenced by The Stooges, MC5, Johnny Thunders or New York Dolls, of course there are many bands out there with similar influences, The Cherry Dolls are a band who gets it right. I love the sort of country and western meets old school punk track …….. but I really dig the whole album! I suspect these catz would be really awesome live!”
Dena VonKook

With two critically acclaimed EPs under their belt and more broken guitar strings and tour damaged gear than they’d care to recall, The Cherry Dolls are now ready to deliver their highly anticipated debut album, Viva Los Dolls, with Alex Markwell of The Delta Riggs sitting in on production duties to capture their blistering sound on record.

Clocking up two years of unrelenting gigging and recording the quintet – Joshua Aubry, Jakob Kagan, Thomas van der Vliet, Brendan West and Jim Stirton – has given more than fair warning of its promise as one of Australia’s most electrifying bands, which they’ve now proudly captured on this record.

Beth Mendes

British singer Beth Mendes’ voice is mesmerising. The apparent sweetness of her delivery belies the deeper emotional depth of her music and the stories she tells. There is certainly no shortage of heartbreak, frustration, pain and anger; all of which makes for beautifully melancholic pop.

Like Me
Not your typical break up ballad. Like Me brings heart wrenching honest lyrics, ethereal vocals, laid back bass and a melodic beat. Gritty, vengeful and sad, this is based from a true experience. Beth co-wrote the song with Jimi Charles Moody

Judi Jackson

24-year old London-based US vocalist Judi Jackson is set to release her hotly-tipped debut EP Blame It On My Youth on December 8th 2017. Blending elements of soul, jazz and R&B, and adorned with lush harmonic textures and melodic touchstones on themes of love and family, the EP features seven original tracks which present an introduction to a pre-eminent young vocal talent whose star is firmly on the rise.

Although not yet a household name, Jackson’s music has been heard by many following a guest appearance on Snarky Puppy’s Grammy-winning album Family Dinner – Volume One, for which she composed and performed the track “Only Love”, and as a result of a high profile support slot with Mavis Staples.

Performing since the age of 12, Jackson was fully set on her path following an impromptu encounter with Wynton Marsalis who subsequently sent her a box of music that became the seed of inspiration for her development as a vocalist. Jackson began listening to and studying the sounds of Blossom Dearie, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald and Mahalia Jackson amongst many others and was soon performing across America and the UK.

Although lauded for her popular tribute shows, which see her performing the works of Nina Simone and Amy Winehouse, it’s through her own music that Jackson’s unique talent truly shines. As accomplished a songwriter as she is a performer, Jackson has been described as possessing a tone and poise beyond her years and at the age of 24 the singer-songwriter from Raonoke, Virginia is set for a lengthy and fascinating career.

Marble Heads

Marble Heads is the band that will take the Swedish indie scene into the 2020th and their up-coming single Not Young Enough is the warm up. Not Young Enough is a crazy roller-coaster filled with saints and sinners, nostalgia mixed with hope for the future, where restless souls are chasing after something without knowing what it is.

Not Young Enough is produced and mixed by Ludwig Böss (previously in the band Ray Wonder, played guitar with Band Of Horses and produced a lot of acts through the years) in the Bakery Studio and Tambourine Studios, in Malmoe, Sweden.

With a great love for psycadelic melodies from the Madchester-era, the peak of the 90s Britpop-era and the drive of England’s punk tradition, Marble Heads hypnotize you a great deal of nonchalant charm.

Not Young Enough will be released on most streaming services on the 27th of October

Georgie Chapple

London-based songwriter Georgie Chapple followed her dream and moved from a small village in Germany to the art hot spot in UK and started to turn her passion into a profession. After several local shows in London’s pubs, she was invited to Folk Festivals and also recorded her debut EP ‘ONE’ in Berlin. The EP’s issues the end of an influential love, that was also the inspiration for her songs. Her first single ‘Met You Yet’ treats the perception of not having found the one love yet. The sound, that reminds of a Folk-Pop-symbiosis between KT Tunstall and Aimee Mann, was released on 6th October with her forthcoming EP ‘ONE’ being released on 20th October.

Meyhem Lauren and DJ Muggs

Last week Queens rapper Meyhem Lauren and LA producer DJ Muggs announced their joint album Gems From The Equinox is set for release on October 27th via Soul Assassins Records with the first single/video “Street Religion” featuring Roc Marciano and today the duo release the second free instant grat track and video from the project called “Murder Rap.” They also reveal the album will feature special guests Action Bronson, Sean Price, Roc Marciano, Conway, B-Real, Hologram, Mr. Mothufuckin’ eXquire, and more. Check the visual for “Murder Rap” reminiscent of classic grainy hip-hop video’s with both artists out pounding the pavement.

Lorna Shore

New Jersey-based metal band Lorna Shore has been making waves since the release of their highly-praised, pulverizing sophomore album, Flesh Coffin, which was released earlier this year with Outerloop Records. Since the release of Flesh Coffin, the band has been touring relentlessly, playing in support of massive metal bands such as Carnifex and Despised Icon, their headlining Beg for Death Tour and The Summer Slaughter Tour, followed by the European Never Say Die Tour in November. Before the band heads overseas, Lorna Shore has teamed up with Gear Gods to unveil a new guitar playthrough video of Flesh Coffin’s debut track, “Denounce the Light.”

Guitarist Adam De Micco states:

“‘Denounce the Light’ was the song I tried to push my technical limits as a player. Whether it be with leads, solos, or riffs. They really challenged me and that was the goal. Every time I enter the studio I try to always further my technical playing and this was the song that did that. As difficult as it may be, it’s one of my favorite songs to play. I hope you enjoy watching this playthrough as much as I enjoy playing it” – Adam De Micco

Formed in 2010, Lorna Shore consists of vocalist Tom Barber, guitarists Adam De Micco and Connor Deffley, and drummer Austin Archey. To date, they have released three EPs and released their debut full-length Psalms in June of 2015. Aside from being featured on the Metal Alliance Tour with Deicide, Lorna Shore has most notably toured alongside bands such as Carnifex, Chelsea Grin, The Black Dahlia Murder, and more. The band has also played festivals such as the New England Metaland Hardcore Festival, Never Say Never Festival, South By So What, Skate and Surf Festival and SXSW’s New England Metal and Hardcore Festival Stage. Lorna Shore’s unique signature aesthetic spans death metal, black metal, power metal, and progressive rock for a style that encompasses brutal breakdowns, dazzling technical passages, white-knuckle-ride dynamics, and rich textured moments. The band’s sophomore album, Flesh Coffin (Outerloop Records), released in February of 2017, was produced by Lorna Shore, Carson Slovak, and Grant McFarland at Atrium Audio (August Burns Red, Everclear, From Ashes to New), mixed by Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland, and mastered by Zakk Cervini (Beartooth, Good Charlotte, Blink 182). In its first week, Flesh Coffin hit the Billboard charts, reaching #2Current Hard Rock and Top New Artist, #5 Overall Hard Rock, and #67 Top Current Album. Being hailed by Trevor Strnaud’s (The Black Dahlia Murder) for Metal Injection stating, “Lorna Shore easily transcend what is commonly known as deathcore with their blisteringly creative marriage of black and tech metal chops…it’s clinical, quick moving, with impressive instrumental shredding,” andNew Noise Magazine who penned”There’s no doubt that Lorna Shore’s sophomore record will go down as one of the best deathcore albums in recent memory.”

Today on Surviving the Golden Age, Glances share the second track “Later Days” from their upcoming album. I feel very close to you right now is out now.

There’s more to a story. Glances is a recording project out of Chicago, Il. In 2012 Micah Waldron moved into an artist loft in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood where he met Ashley Thompson, cute. About a year later Ashhh spent some time on a farm in Hawaii where she met Christian Whiting (Chin). Through her persuasive nature she convinced Chin to move to Chicago where the three of them started playing music together. Eventually an album started to form. It was an accident.

I feel very close to you right now is a collection of songs that strive to portray the the hidden meaningfulness of impermanence by examining it through the context of a relationship. Before we weren’t close, now we are, soon we will not be. It’s meant to be listened to, preferably together.

Jacob Banks and Timbaland

Singer/songwriter Jacob Banks has teamed up with legendary producer Timbaland to release “Unknown (To You) Timbaland Remix” via Interscope Records. The remix picks up the tempo with Timbaland’s unmistakable, futuristic beats, enhancing the track’s powerful emotion and Jacob’s commanding vocals. i-D premiered the remix, dubbing it “the track you need to hear today” and declaring “rebooted with seriously dramatic strings and a walloping great choir, Tim adds to the gorgeous track in the way only Tim can.” Listen to “Unknown (To You) Timbaland Remix” here:

Timbaland reveals, “I’m passionate about working with up and coming artists, the voices of our next generation, and Jacob is one of those voices for sure. He’s an incredible talent, and I knew I had to work with him when I heard ‘Unknown (To You).'” Jacob adds, “Timbaland has been behind some of the greatest hits of my generation and has had a huge influence on where music is today. ‘Unknown (To You)’ is such a meaningful track to me and getting the chance to collaborate with Timbaland on this song was an absolute honor.”

“Unknown (To You)” was recently released to critical acclaim, with Essence announcing Jacob one of “7 new R&B crooners you need to check out” and PAPER declaring when “Jacob Banks sings, you listen.” The track’s video, which boldly examines how difficult it can be for men to express emotion, was praised by Pigeons & Planes for its “stunning, cinematic visuals” with NYLON proclaiming “powerful doesn’t even begin to cover it.” “Unknown (To You)” is the first single from Jacob’s forthcoming album The Village (Interscope Records).

Jacob has wrapped up a series of major summer festivals with his performance at Austin City Limits, with The Austin Chronicle predicting Jacob’s “voice “has ‘next big thing’ written all over it.” Currently on his Into The Wild Tour in Europe, Jacob will kick off the North American leg of the tour on November 2nd, performing to a sold-out crowd at LA’s The Roxy Theatre. The tour will make stops in major cities across the U.S. and Canada, including 2 nights in NYC, ending on December 5th in Atlanta (see full list of dates below).

De Lux

Magnetic has premiered the Juan Maclean remix of De Lux’s new single “875 Dollars”. When talking about the remix De Lux said, “We’ve been a fan of Juan’s music for a while. To our ears, he has really really good taste in house and disco and he took our version of ‘875’ and made a simple minimal classy house track and added a darker tone. We blasted it through a big PA in our studio and turned off the lights. It’s perfect for a darker club atmosphere.”

Juan Maclean added, “This track reminded me quite a bit of the early days of DFA, I had some nostalgia sitting in the studio listening to it. It particularly reminded me of The Rapture, and I got to thinking about how much Chicago House was a big influence back then for everyone, and those guys playing lots of that stuff around the office. So I dug out my trusty TR 707 drum machine, the drums that House was built on, and the JX3P, a synth staple around the DFA studio, and tried to put myself back in those days.”

The original cut of “875 Dollars” will be featured on the duo’s forthcoming LP ‘More Disco Songs About Love’, out 1/19/2018 on Innovative Leisure.

The Limiñanas

Welcome to the sound of highly lauded French duo The Limiñanas! The French psych duo will release their Istanbul Is Sleepy EP on November 17 on Because Music. Istanbul Is Sleepy features title track “Istanbul Is Sleepy” – in collaboration with Anton Newcombe (The Brian Jonestown Massacre) – as well as new single “Shadow People.” The band premiered the entrancing, Sixties-inspired video for the EP’s title track – featuring collaborator Anton Newcombe and directed by Jean Luc Moly.

“…sound as if they have stepped out of Quentin Tarantino’s dreams…. a 60s-saturated stunner”
– Uncut Magazine

“garagey, soundtrack-infused psych, a swirl of pounding drums, spoken French, baroque melodies”
– Mojo Magazine

Reflecting on the single and their collaboration with Newcombe, Lionel explained, “‘Istanbul Is Sleepy’ is like the classic dream where you become the hero, the Captain Blood or Midnight Sultan. The one who rescues and seduces Maureen O’Hara or Ava Gardner. Anton is singing and playing guitar on the track. He was inspired, in particular, by The Cult during their ‘Rain’ period. Last year, Mojo magazine asked us to record a cover for a special Kinks tribute. We chose ‘Two Sisters’. Marie and I were thinking for the vocal part it would be great to approach Anton Newcombe, having opened for The Brian Jonestown Massacre at Le Trianon in Paris. The work began like that. We had an album to record and we decided to finish it with him. During the Christmas week we took our demos, flew to Berlin and recorded at Anton’s studio. Six days later we had a finished album.”

Antone Newcombe added, “I really enjoyed work from scratch with The Limiñanas to create this song. From the composition phase to the way of singing on the track, I had the idea of singing like David Bowie, singing like Iggy Pop who try to sing like David Bowie… It was really exciting to take part of all the creative process of this record.”

Asylum 8

Imagine if a death metal band got drunk, went to the wrong party and ended up making a baby with a DJ that has a secret craving for some power metal.

Now that the image is stuck in your head, let us introduce Asylum 8.

Asylum 8 is a 6-piece band from Kuopio, Finland. Their music is a combination of ruthless modern death metal and EDM tunes.

In summer of 2017 they started recording first full length album which is to be released later the same year.

After years of work and multiple changes in the lineup, the beast is ready to be unleashed with a blast of discobeats mixed with actual blastbeats and intense guitar work.

Raised in country South Australia, brothers Andrew and Duncan Sellars grew up listening to their parent’s vinyls and watching Rage. Based in Adelaide, the brothers are both multi-instrumentalists, who are passionate about song writing.

Their music draws inspiration from Rock, Blues, Country, Bluegrass and Gaelic which results in a fusion of raw, introspective, rock, and melodic music.

Linear Time was written by Andrew and Duncan and recorded and produced in their home studio. The brothers played all instruments on the track, the grungy riffs, hypnotic melody and fierce drums will transport you to the 60’s. The song is inspired by the reassurance of new beginnings, after the death of their father and birth of their nephew

“We want you to get lost in positive contemplation and provide some comfort. It’s just a plea really to achieve a higher vibration” – Sellars

The brothers have a long history of musical success, Andrew was already winning awards by his early teens for his vocals, guitar skills and song writing competing across SA, VIC and NSW in country music festivals. Heavy influenced by The Beatles, Eagles, Ray Charles, The Kinks, Cream, T.Rex and Johnny Cash shape their sound but they aren’t afraid to experiment to deliver a punchy track

Seven Blocks

Seven Blocks is a Finnish rock band from Tampere and they have just released a new single and music video “Ride”.

Both tracks on the single represent the new style of Seven Blocks that combines the bands familiar style with a hint of American sound. The single offers first bites of the material that the upcoming full length from Seven Blocks shall offer.

Singer/Songwriter Ville comments the release: “After We got Jere, who We all knew already, to play bass the new material started to compose itself always when We crabbed Our instruments. Whole band had really good wibes to play new music with an old friend. And two of those tunes became this single -release.”

Bass player Jere comments: “The studio sessions with this line-up were easy going except the bands traditional *Blades of Steel’ -tournament that doesn’t leave no on uninjured and wihout tears! The winner of the tournament was Our giutar player Rami “Sumppi” Suominen. We’ve composed lots of new material and soon We shall go to the studio to start the recordings.”

Red Eleven

Finnish alternative heavy rockers Red Eleven has released a new single “Again”. This is third single this year the band is releasing after the singles ’You’ve Been Warned’ & ’Back In Time’.

The band is currently searching for management and label partners to work with on the next Red Eleven album. They also keep a chance open to maybe release an EP including these singles and couple of unreleased tracks later.

Show us your Lionheart!

One more week until symphonic metal masters in SERENITY unleash their brand new masterpiece “Lionheart”! To shorten the wait, today the band debuts their official music video for the track “United” with a worldwide premiere!

With the title of their sixth opus SERENITY deliver a statement: “Lionheart!” Their energy and joy of playing those fantastic Power Symphonic Metal-hymns can’t be tamed. Heroic and heartfelt – it’s almost impossible to not be carried away. Glorious melodies bind together on the likes of “United”.

SERENITY states:
“Our Lionheart was just set free – so let’s get United on our metal crusade!”

Today London based 4-piece Tempesst are a beautiful self-directed Super 8 video for latest single ‘Waiheke’.The self-directed video, filmed on Super 8 follows the band as they frolic by the beach, jump aboard a speedboat; all interspersed by clips of the four-piece working in the studio.

Speaking on the lyrical inspiration behind the track, Toma Banjanin of the band said: “My girlfriend Summer and I were travelling around New Zealand in a van last summer and ended up staying at her Auntie’s ‘Bach’ (beach cabin) in Waiheke, an island off Auckland. Summer’s Dad stayed with us too and gave me my first Tarot reading and I wrote this song about that conversation”.

A new chapter in the Tempesst story, the Adult Wonderland EP marks a confident stride forward for the band, with ‘Waiheke’ standing tall as an apt first taster. Guitars lilt delicately amidst the swaying rhythm section, as Toma sings of the… “first light in the morning” and “sugar coated later days”. The push and pull of the expansive vocal harmonies and soothing instrumentals give the track an extremely pleasing dreamy, psychedelic quality; clearly a songwriting process carefully prepared and planned by the quartet.

It’s been a big 12 months or so for Tempesst – led by brothers Toma (vocals, guitars) and Andy Banjanin (drums), and joined by Eric Weber (guitars) and Kane Reynolds (keys) – the band’s back-to-back showcases (The Great Escape, NME Awards, Live At Leeds), festivals (Bushstock, Southsea Fest, Hackney Wonderland) and live dates alongside Mystery Jets, The Veils, Albert Hammond Jr and GUM (Jay Watson, Tame Impala) have propelled them into the spotlight. Fresh from their biggest London headline to date at The Moth Club, Tempesst saw out 2016 with a UK Tour in support of The Temper Trap.

Now the band are preparing to release their much-anticipated debut EP ‘Adult Wonderland’, set for self-release on October 27th, along with a string of UK dates in December. They continue to climb the proverbial ladder; hotly tipped, ones-to-watch-listed and publicly adored by the likes of Noisey, DIY, NME, Drowned In Sound, The Line Of Best Fit, Clash Magazine, BBC Radio 6 Music (Lauren Laverne), Radio X (Maz Tappuni, Communion Presents) and triple j.

19th of January 2018 the witches will rise again. Nekrokraft compiles their earlier demos on their new album “Witches Funeral”. Today Nekrokraft releases the previously unreleased tracks “Wrath of the Heavens” that was written in the same era as the demos. Combining a raw, brutal and untamed sound with blackend melodies shows the first primal steps of these fallen creatures. With a total of ten tracks of thrashing black metal that contains eight original songs and covers of Slayer “Angel of Death” and Bathory “Satan my Master”. Let the hammer fall, this is the hour of the witch.

Nekrokraft is spending the last half of 2017 in the studio recording their new album “Servants” that will be out late spring of 2018. The band have previously released the mini-album “Will o’ Wisp” on The Sign Records 2016. Singer Angst have since Nekrokrafts last album joined Swedish blackened thrash legends Witchery. The songs on Witches Funeral are taken from three different recording sessions and are compiled from two demos and previously unreleased material.

Western Long Island MC and producer Marcaux has premiered his latest single “Namaste” on Groundsounds today, another track off his upcoming EP Hypocrite. This follows his previous single “He Has Risen” from last month. “Namaste” comes days after Marcaux worked with Hoodie Allen collaborator, Nicky C, to offer a blazing freestyle over Hoodie’s own “Cake Boy”.

Once again, “Namaste” showcases Marcaux’s talent for combining sticky hooks with a dynamic rap structure that merges RATKING spitfire sequences with the fiery live intensity of Ho99o9. He writes, produces, and engineers his own music and lyrics; he does the same for other developing artists, such as HEIRSOUND, Ilya Setrakian, and many more.

Marcaux has steadily made a name for himself through vigourous touring across the US, where he has opened for Chris Webby in addition to featured performances on the Beatport Stage at Warped Tour on Long Island. Marcaux has frequently been recognized as a rising star, winning Best New Artist at the International Music Conference in 2014 as well as winning the Emerging Artist Series at SummerFest 2016. He released his debut album Desensitized in July 2015; since then, he has continued to build steam with his explosive live show

Nina Lee

Today, New York City-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Nina Lee has released her poignant new single “Airborne”. The heartfelt and very personal song, which premiered via Variance Magazine, is the first taste of her forthcoming debut EP entitled Snapshots, out November 10th. Featuring Nina’s stunning, smoky vocals, stark piano keys, and a big-screen worthy narrative, “Airborne” was inspired by her family story. Nina penned the song after discovering 70-year-old, heartfelt letters exchanged between her great-grandfather, a World War II “Screaming Eagle” veteran, and her great-grandmother – the woman behind the man whose steady support and quiet devotion never wavered.

Nina Lee is just 17 years old, but her songwriting taps into a soul that is well beyond her years, telling vivid, moving stories about everything from the power of family, to the effects of bullying, to the importance of inner strength. The Snapshots EP is just what the title suggests – a collage of moments in time that take us on a journey, whether traveling back to years gone by or sharing confessional tales from the present. Possessing a captivating voice that immediately enchants and an indie spirit, Nina is known to break out her ukelele (she taught herself both baritone and tenor ukelele), and also has a knack for piano and guitar. With hummable melodies, a charming delivery and evocative lyrics, Nina is a refreshing and promising new voice that will capture your ears and your heart.

JT Roach

Today, singer/songwriter JT Roach has released the second single from his debut EP, Witches Lake. PRESS HERE to listen to the ethereal “Bloom.” The song follows JT’s debut “Tipsy Love,” which earned praise from The Boot, PopDust, Ones to Watch + more upon its release and is just a taste of JT’s stunning 8-track debut, out on November 17.

On November 2, JT Roach will make his live debut at Hotel Café in Los Angeles.

For singer/songwriter JT Roach, it’s no surprise that he pursued a career in music. Growing up in Madison, WI to a proud Irish-Catholic family, JT was constantly surrounded by music, and was very close with his father – a music enthusiast and writer. He was given his first guitar in the 4th grade, and started seriously getting into music in high school. After graduating from UW-Madison, JT moved to Chicago to pursue music, while maintaining a steady job, and finally made the jump on LA. Upon his arrival to LA, JT pursued a songwriting career and was very successful (he’s written for/with Emily Warren, Jason Derulo, Nicky Romero, Krewella and Jake Miller to name a few). A tapestry of sonic influences, his debut EP Witches Lake combines the chilly falsetto of Bon Iver with the earworm melodies of Justin Bieber, the concept-driven songwriting of Ed Sheeran with the alternative production elements of Jack Garratt.
