Music journalists get hit with a steady helping of press releases every day. For the music fan without that kind of sensory overload, a lot of music news can pass by without being seen. Every Monday, I will weed through and compile a list of some of the most intriguing press releases to come across my virtual desk.

Life Is Beautiful

Join us in Vegas this weekend as The Life Is Beautiful (LIB) Fest invades Fremont Street for the second year! Expanding from a two-day to a three-day cultural event in response to the success of its first year, LIB will play host to the world’s top musicians, chefs and cultural icons for an inspiring weekend and will feature nearly 70 chart-topping acts, dozens of culinary giants, and world-renowned speakers, all on 4 massive stages in the heart of the newly revived Downtown LV, with unexpected art installations and several Culinary Villages. “Life is Beautiful is about inspiring people. It’s about offering messages of hope and encouragement through a unique experience,” said Life is Beautiful Founder Rehan Choudhry. “We’ve been so fortunate to work with the world’s most talented and authentic set of musicians, chefs, artists and speakers, who will once again join us in Downtown Las Vegas for an unforgettable weekend.”

The Hollaback Girl returns to the solo stage as she dropped her track, “Baby Don’t Lie”, her first release since 2006’s ‘Sweet Escape”. Holding a Twitter chat with fans after last night’s “Voice” episode, L.A.M.B’s lady in charge means business with this Ryan Tedder and Benny Blanco produced single.

MD MC Logic releases his long awaited debut album ‘Under Pressure’ today. Getting assistance with features from Childish Gambino and Big Sean and samples from Slim Thug and Eazy-E, he handles this “pressure” well.

Dallas, TX’s Valise announces their debut album ‘Young Bloomer’, their full-length available February 24, 2015. The collection of eleven songs is the collaborative process of over eighteen weeks recording at The Vanguard Room in Lakeland, FL with Matt Wilbur. “The song went through so many versions, originally coming across much more cheerful and guitar driven. Eventually, I played this sad piano riff over the initial tracking, and we all froze, we loved it,” explains vocalist, Vince Penick, about “Charlie Gray.” “It was incredibly somber, and contrasted so sharply with what we had already tracked. It came out of nowhere and changed the song so profoundly that we scrapped a lot of what we had and started creating the version you hear now. That really set the tone for how we recorded the rest of the album. We loved pulling the songs apart and putting them back together, and that process is where we forged the album’s identity.” To celebrate the release, Valise is sharing the first single, “Charlie Gray” for free download.
