Witness McNett’s Wolfbat warriors battle 16 foot opponents during set to the musical backdrop of death metal band Darkest Hour and metal supergroup Mutoid Man (Steve Brodsky/Cave In, Ben Koller/Converge, Nick Cageo/Brohammer).

GWAR is operated by a frequently rotating group of musicians, artists and performers. Dennis McNett, and GWAR’s lead art director Bob Gorman have collaborated on a final scene as art meets metal in a visual and musical collaboration that cannot be missed.

Mark Morrison

R&B singer-songwriter Mark Morrison enlists Rick Ross and Tory Lanez for his brand new single “MYLIFE 2.0”, produced by Izze The Producer, available now on iTunes, Spotify, and all digital retailers. ‎This year marks the 20th anniversary of Morrison’s No. 1 hit single “Return of the Mack”.

Earwig and Lydia Loveless

The unpublished novel “My Own Secret Service” details the origins of the underground band Earwig and their fantastic adventures as they battle to save the Multiverse from a secret society of invading demons who occupy a parallel dimension. The self-proclaimed “true” rock-and-roll memoir forms the basis of Earwig’s new album Pause For The Jets. Infusing classic alternative chops with dramatic nods to everything from Kate Bush to Cyberpunk, Earwig’s new science-fiction rock-opera testifies to the importance of pushing artistic boundaries and not falling victim to musical trends.

Pause For The Jets raises the bar for Earwig with its grinding synth riffs, ragged guitar lines and melodic bass-driven stunners. Crafting an album that is a stylistic departure as well as a career defining tour de force this late in the game would be unusual for most bands. From Earwig we should expect nothing less.

Not just another indie band from Columbus, Ohio, Earwig is the edgy, underground rock vehicle of guitarist and vocalist Lizard McGee who has been at the helm since the band’s inception in the 90’s. These days, the band is a true family affair with McGee’s daughter, James McGee-Moore joining full-time to galvanize the already unrestrained live performance dynamic. She also contributes vocals to Earwig’s often strange, always stunning new album. Constantine Hondroulis delivers hard-edged bass lines with the subtlety and nuance of a master. Nick Nocera, who replaces long-time Earwig drummer George Hondroulis, deftly rudders the vessel through dangerous rhythmic gravitational forces.

Novaa releases new single ‘Hands’ off her upcoming Stolen Peaches EP.

“Hands” is about trying to connect to someone but not being able to get past the physical level. I tried to give it a very hypnotic, trance-like and also dark atmosphere that is meant to reflect that desperate feeling of not being able to see someone fully and clearly behind his/her human layers. During the song the protagonist is constantly questioning the relationship to the other person and tries to build a deeper connection. But as the efforts turn out to be pointless the protagonist tries to get that depth and devotion by destroying the relationship.

After recent collaborative Down Under EP with musician and producer Moglii – NOVAA announces her sophomore offering, 9-track EP Stolen Peaches.

Summer 2015 saw NOVAA gathering the ideas and songs that would make up her planned album Peaches. A whole world of new sounds and stories were created, with an avatar / character associated with every song, showing her very unique, immersive take on her own musical world.

While trying to complete the album, NOVAA’s car was broken into, and her laptop, which housed all the ideas and new material which would make up Peaches, was stolen. With these songs lost forever, Novaa decided to reconstruct the remnants of these ideas, and Stolen Peaches was born – along with a new, full bodied electronic sound she calls “Organic Electronic”.

ISLANDER has announced their winter touring plans, joining the “Overdose Tour” featuring The Word Alive, Volumes and Invent Animate. Kicking off on November 11th in Portland, the jaunt circles North America before concluding in Phoenix on December 18th. “This is going to be one fun tour. Rad bands, rocking cities and hoodie weather, need I say more?” claims ISLANDER vocalist Mikey Carvajal.

ISLANDER has had an incredible year thus far with the release of their critically acclaimed new album Power Under Control, featuring former Avenged Sevenfold drummer Arin Ilejay and J.R. Bareis of Love And Death/Korn. Currently headlining the “Make Pizza Great Again Tour” with Palaye Royale and Bad Seed Rising, ISLANDER shows no sign of pumping the breaks as more tour dates will be announced for 2017.

Alabama-born phenom Yelawolf (real name: Michael Wayne Atha) has released his new single “Daylight” from his forthcoming album Trial By Fire on Slumerican/ Shady/Interscope via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. Introduced during the Magnificent Seven trailer, the song is now available to stream.

“Sometimes a grown man wants to be left alone to enjoy his own torture. And if you ain’t in the mood to get down and grumpy… don’t come around. This song is about shadow boxing your demons. And winning. Sometimes with company… Only the RUKUS,” said Yelawolf.

Next month, Yelawolf will begin the North American Trial By Fire tour, which includes Canadian stops in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver. The tour will feature Georgia country-rapper Bubba Sparxxx, Struggle Jennings, and Tennessee-born rap veteran Jelly Roll. A complete list of dates and ticketing info can be found HERE.

The new single and forthcoming tour will be the first look at new music from Yelawolf since the release of last year’s acclaimed album, Love Story, which debuted at #2 in Canada and #3 in the USA on the overall charts, and further arrived at #1 on the Rap and R&B charts in both countries. Love Story followed Yelawolf’s 2011 debut, Radioactive.

A perfect blend of R&B, and Pop is how Annalé best describes her music. Currently based in Los Angeles, Annalé was born in New York and raised in South Korea. Being exposed to a variety of cultures and experiences growing up reflects her integrated sound. Playing the piano at the tender age of 4 her parents played a pivotal role in exposure to music early on, with her father being an active orchestral conductor/composer in South Korea and her mother a professional organist.

With both classical music l training and an ear for melody and strong structure, Annale’ auditioned for Berklee College of Music and was selected as one of the seven Presidential Scholars receiving a full 5-year scholarship to the prestigious school. Majoring in Contemporary Writing & Production and Vocal Performance, Annale’ was constantly surrounded by top tier musicians from around the world; which assisted in sharpening her musical and performance skills.

With her debut album coming soon and the single “Roses” rising on Billboard’s Urban Adult Contemporary Charts, Annalé is positioning herself to musically and culturally reach a global audience. With its soulful groove, funky bassline, and jazzy sensibilities, “Roses” is gaining notable buzz playing on numerous radio stations and AMC theaters.

Fitzwallace, a five piece country pop band from Leeds, blend the sounds of today’s most contemporary country artists such as Lady Antebellum and Zac Brown Band. ‘The band beautifully blend harmony and heartache..’ Ed Heaton – Chapel FM.

Formed in 2013 by lead singer and songwriter Joe Martin, Fitzwallace have gone on to perform across the UK at some of the most recognised and resected Country, Folk and Americana festivals the UK has to offer. The new single succeeds their first successful single Give Me A Reason. Available on Spotify, iTunes, Soundcloud, Call Me A Liar is a song with ‘great energy that will convert you to country music’.

Following a successful summer, playing at various festivals, FItzwallace have been nominated for BCMA’s Horizon Act of the Year. Representing a British response to the sounds coming out of Nashville now, their take on country music is individual and fresh. Their weaving four part harmonies are one of the defining features of the band’s unique sound, definitely making them ‘a band to keep your eye on in the future’ W21 music.

Robbie Miller

Off the back of a breakthrough 2016, Robbie Miller’s musical evolution continues to grow with his upcoming second EP Closer To Home (out 28 October), to be supported by a tri-state launch tour announced today.

This past year has been quite the journey for Robbie Miller, with his singles ‘The Pain’ and ‘Road’ both picked up for rotation on triple j, national support tours alongside Josh Pyke and Dustin Tebbutt, a gig with Michael Franti and a stellar BIGSOUND showcase. Capping off an already impressive year, Miller is packing up to hit the pavement once more in support of his second EP, the weight of his growing accolades behind him and an endlessly promising future ahead.

Miller’s follow-up to debut EP The Faster The Blood Slows is an atmospheric and emotionally immersive experience. Closer To Home isn’t just headphone music at its finest – it bares all with close, poignant moments, dramatic highs and all that falls in between. So effortlessly does Miller intimately blend all these sonic shades does he bring his uniquely raw voice to the stage, a vocal strength of which has been described “to make your knees weak”.

Animus is a three-piece rock band comprising of brothers Ashton and Dylon on vocals and drums respectively. They were joined by long-time friend Sheldon who currently takes the reign on bass guitar. With the help of a few fancy effects pedals, the band manages to get a full four-piece sound with simply a bass guitar and drums.

‘Just a Little Bit’ will be the band’s second single, which sees them moving away from their previous alternative rock sound. After the departure of their drummer late last year, the band saw themselves move towards a more organic, simplistic rock sound.

For lovers of Queens of the Stone Age, Royal Blood, Arctic Monkeys and Nothing But Thieves – ‘Just a Little Bit’ provides listeners with solid riffs, fat drums and huge vocals.

Lyricist and lead vocalist, Ashton D’Costa describes ‘Just a Little Bit’ as a social commentary on romantic relationships saying, “the song was written through the point of view of a character who is living in a toxic relationship yet somehow needing this regularity to feel whole. This unfortunately is tending to become more and more normal in today’s society.”

Animus have brought their electrifying live show to venues all around Melbourne including Max Watts (formerly Hi-Fi Bar), The Espy, Brunswick Hotel, Bendigo Hotel, 24 Moons Bar, Laundry Bar, Cherry Bar and Bar Open.

The Great Escape

The three-faced band The Great Escape with it’s rousing energy and their single “I can’t resist” met the spirit of the California indie-scene. They draw their inspiriation of all the West Coast has to offer – sun, surf and of course the laid-back lifestyle. Although the two male members ideally fit look-wise in the image of real Californians, Kristian and Malte are actually from Hamburg, Germany . Whereas Amie as the only girl in the band is from America and fascinates with her powerful voice. During their times together as a band in Los Angeles, they developed the vision to bring their music to the sound of the 60’s, 70’s when rock and pop music was still genuine, authentic and unpolished. Their new album is not only the band name in itself but represents symbolically the career of the band.

The Tambourine Girls

They’ve already unleashed two EPs (The End Of Time, SIDES) and singles (‘Police’ & ‘The Tambourine Girl’) to a warmly receptive world; now rural NSW-via-Sydney band The Tambourine Girls announce their debut self-titled full length and release its third single ‘Cupo’.

‘Cupo’ is a sun-drenched exercise in 70s psych, teeming with reverb and – you guessed it – an actual tambourine. Relf explains its inspiration as stemming from his own imaginings about “what it would be like to be a man my age who had grown up in Iraq”. Its warm yet vaguely melancholic sensibility, combined with the happy accident of studio assistant Antonia Gauci’s resplendent vocal outro, makes it bassist Nick Weaver’s favourite track on the album.

Borne out of a collective impressive musical heritage, The Tambourine Girls began as Relf’s solo project. Their 2014 debut EP The End Of Time saw the band find their place on the international stage, with praise rolling in from Europe, the US, and more – ultimately resulting in a run of national tours supporting The Preatures, Dustin Tebbutt, Holy Holy and Megan Washington. ‘Police’, the first single released from The Tambourine Girls (LP), was met with a fan and critical reaction nothing short of uproarious – at time of sending, it has been played over 350k times on Spotify (and rapidly counting).

With a critical resume as extensive as theirs, coupled with a reputation for high-energy, unforgettable live shows, The Tambourine Girls are poised for what’s to come. The release of The Tambourine Girls, and its subsequent launch tour, are sure to cement themselves as one of the most innovative bands in the Australian music canon once and for all.

The Tambourine Girls (LP) is released on Friday November 4.

The music of the Oakland-based art-pop group Makeunder, the brainchild of musician Hamilton Ulmer, is undeniably visually evocative. The sweeping sounds featured on the project’s latest EP, Great Headless Blank, came paired with an Illustrated Listening Guide created in collaboration with noted Illustrator Dean Stuart (SF Weekly feature).

Following the premiere of the animated video for the EP’s title track, a Vimeo Staff Pick also supported by The Creator’s Project, The Line of Best Fit, Impose Magazine and more, Makeunder now shares a remix of “What A Lovely Bandsaw!” turned in by Naytronix (Nate Brenner of tUnE-yArDs.)

The remix premiered via Clash who said, “Dream-like compositions, there’s a slightly surreal air to Makeunder’s music, a uniquely visual property that arrives laced in superlative colour.”

On the remix, Brenner shares, “Sifting through Hamilton’s stems was like exploring a treasure trove. I tried to capture the intense emotion that was in the original while adding a fresh perspective, and a few bass riffs of my own.”

Ulmer adds, “‘What a Lovely Bandsaw!’ is about the day my family sold all my deceased father’s belongings so we could put the family home on the market. It’s a dense, anxious, ebullient wall-of-sound designed to mask profound grief. The subject matter makes it a tricky song to remix, but Naytronix managed to strip all the pretense and weave the song into this tender, meditative dance. It’s absolutely brilliant.”

The Great Headless Blank EP, available for the first time on vinyl, is due out October 14th, 2016 and also serves as the debut offering from the newly launched Good Eye Records. Pre-orders are now ongoing here.

If someone would ask me what Mavrick sounds like, I’d answer, ”listen to Atlantis and you’ll know”. A just quote from the man himself, never one to shy away from creating something new, something unique, something original. Mavrick’s debut EP ‘Atlantis’ is a journey reflecting of his own different expansive emotions, captured in each of the six tracks presented here.

After 2015’s breakthrough single ‘Remedy’ touched on a mixture of modern day gospel pop music with a drum and bass foundation, nothing has been straightforward when it comes to Mavrick’s song writing. The imagination demonstrated in ‘Remedy’ soon caught the ears of Apple Beats Zane Lowe who aptly championed him, increasing the demand for new music. The stage was set…

Opening with curtain raising ‘Let it Burn’, the EP takes shape with the evoking pop song writing of previous single ‘Funeral’, whilst also bringing the soul into the mix that is such a trademark to Mavrick’s sonic identity. ‘Let it Burn’ carries an underlying message, written about the recent revolting antics of the US State Police department, and the many unprovoked shootings across America in a seeming ‘f**k you’ to those who abuse their power.

Wonderfully titled ‘The Weight’ is a classic pop melody, demonstrating Mavrick’s vocal potential and exceptional use of dynamics. Inspired by his grandfather falling ill whilst on a trip to Iceland, Mavrick dissolved himself into the minimalistic the sound of James Blake and came out with this powerful, heart-wrenching track that was written in one take on a cell phone.

‘Keep Calm’ is a glorious slowburn of a track with echoes of Fat Boy Slim’s classic Praise You, whilst ‘Give Up’ is in Mavrick’s words ‘the best pop song I’ve ever wrote’. Both expand on the daring combo of M83s electro-granduer, Hozier’s gospel-like ambience/ Austra’s potent giallo vibe, topped with the contemporary air of XOV.

Each track is a journey worth embarking upon, each with something to say, a message. ‘Atlantis’ will be available in all the usual places on 7th October 2016 and demonstrates a rising force in Swedish music coming into bloom in highly impressive form.

Zombie Rodeo

Zombie Rodeo is a Finnish, Helsinki based gritty fuzz rock band. The band is now releasing a brand new EP named Cult Leader, through Inverse Records on 18th November 2016.

This time both the music and vocals are much tighter and pronounced, than with the previous releases, with a more heavy, melodic and diverse feeling. Even the band themselves were very positively surprised by the outcome. Now Zombie Rodeo is ready to spread the music and to perform energetic and loud live performances.

The band released an eponymous single from the EP below.

Average Art Club

Average Art Club return from the rabbit hole with a fresh new lineup and a bucket full of chill in the form of their brand new single, ‘Sublime’. New sounds from the quintet explore dreamy, dual lead female vocals, finding influence from groups amongst the like of Wolf Alice, Warpaint and a punk First Aid Kit.

Lyricist Lisa Murr escapes a mundane reality by reflecting notions of ‘The Sublime’; the process of taking something unimpressive and transforming it into something beautiful. The dreamy artwork showcased for the single created by Average Art Club’s very own Hannah Maddock (@hannahmanic) continues the exploration of the artistic and philosophical concept of ‘The Sublime’.

Recorded by Cody McWaters, and Mastered by Dave Neal (WAAX, The Belligerents), ‘Sublime’ is a tantalising sample of the magic yet to come from these Brisbane visionaries. Sharing stages with The Griswolds, Wafia, Cub Sport, Banff, WAAX, The John Steel Singers, and Ecca Vandal the band are certainly not slowing down with headline tour dates to be announced soon.

Sharp tongued, quick witted and ravenous in ambition; introducing Melbourne based rapper, poet and spoken word artist, Kudos and his debut single ‘Plucker’.

Kudos (James Tretheway) is an unconventional figure in the hip hop community, his passion for the art form is palpable and incredibly contagious. He’s spent years honing his skills, between drawing crowds on city streets rhyming publicly, practicing his sets while jumping rope and even sharing the stage with heavy weights such as Atmosphere, Spit Syndicate and Afrika Bambaataa. On top of this he has featured consistently with Tijuana Cartel and even presented a Ted X talk on creative space.

Kudos’ debut single ‘Plucker’ exemplifies his skill and paints a fantastic introduction of the artist. The track produced/mixed by partner in crime Yuri Tobler and mastered/mixed by Ben Kramp (Illy, M-Phazes) features witty, honest wordplay and subtle melodic fluctuations. It’s as catchy as it is interesting.

To celebrate a brave first release, Kudos embarks on an intimate national tour, bringing the magic to rooms across the East Coast including a spot at the Sunshine Coast’s Jungle Love Festival. Spending years waiting for the perfect moment to step through the door, Kudos has well and truly arrived to the party, and ‘Plucker’ represents a delicious first taste of what is to come.

L’Etiope first EP : “I nonni sono morti”

The EP is a self produced work, recorded at La Sauna Recording Studio (already known for the works of Dente, il Triangolo, Hot Gossip, il Teatro degli orrori), while the mastering was done by Giovanni Versari (Verdena, Afterhours Franco Battiato, Lucio Dalla, Vinicio Capossela and winner of a Grammy Award for his work on “Drones” by Muse). The genre is ironically defined by the group as retro-indie-songwriting, because of the attention to words, the independent context and the use of an “old time style”. “I Nonni sono morti” means “Grandparents are dead” and it refers to the transition to adulthood, with all the changes of perspectives and behaviors that it implies. Around this topic revolve three of the four tracks proposed in the EP. The band’s name comes from a famous scene from the italian movie “Ecce Bombo” by Nanni Moretti. L’Etiope (the Ethiopian in english) of Moretti, like Godot, is a mysterious figure that never arrives and is never seen; he’s someone who has precise but useless ideas, someone who has a a vain reason, someone to pretend with.

The album cover is a re-discovered picture by Guido (guitar, synth and chorus), who has a photographic project, “Found Photos Movies”, in which he looks for old and undeveloped photographic films and reveals the content after year on the run. The cover photo, in particular, comes from America, in the 50’s or early 60’s. We wonder what became of that embrace. tracklist 1 – Prosopopea 2 – The absence of time 3 to 12 May 1974 4 – Immobilis in mobile The Ethiopian is a music project born in 2015 from the meeting Andrea Cocco, singer and guitarist, the bassist Alex Roggero and the two brothers Gianluca (drums and percussion) and Guido Tosi (synth, guitar and chorus).

Sitting somewhere between trip-hop and electro-pop, Joshua Idehen’s vibrant, baritone vocals add an element of spoken word to Hugh’s hypnotic sound. The band’s previous single ‘One Of These Days’ earned them spins from Huw Stephens and Annie Mac, and they have already received support online from Stereogum, Pigeons and Planes and The Guardian.

Hugh will be performing a one off show at Electrowerks, London on the 12th October to support the release. The one off show at Electrowerkz, in their home city of London on the 12th October will see them joined by Eliza Shaddad, Fran Lobo and Wildhood.
