The New York Times called the band’s sound “a handsome alloy of dry acoustic timbre and reverberant effect, suggesting a very British convergence of texture-minded electronic music and psychedelic folk.” The album won the Mercury Music Prize in November 2012 and was nominated for 3 Brit Awards in February 2013. By the end of 2012 An Awesome Wave was Bob Boilen of NPR‘s Album of the Year, iTunes Alternative Breakthrough Album of the Year and was on the top 10 lists of numerous critics, including NPR‘s Robin Hilton, The Wall Street Journal, and Billboard. It has now sold over one million copies world-wide and has been streamed more than 200 million times on Spotify.

June 17, 2014 – Los Angeles, CA – San Francisco based indie hip-hop artist K.Flay will release her much anticipated, homegrown new album, Life As A Dog, on Tuesday, June 24th. Today, she’s giving loyal fans an early listen with a stream of the entire record at Pandora Radio and has launched a pre-order for the new record at
Stream K.Flay’s Life As A Dog in its entirety now at
K.Flay is not your typical hip-hop artist. The talented musician always had an inclination towards the craft but really only gravitated to the rhythm and the rhyme in a serious way while in college pursuing a double major at Stanford University.  It was there she released her first mixtapes which introduced her offbeat style to underground hip-hop fans around the world. Over the next several years she built a hardcore following through social media, live shows and a string of compilations, singles and EPs, including 2012’s independently released EP Eyes Shut which grabbed the attention from the likes of, and and earned her tours with acts like Passion Pit, 3Oh!3, Icona Pop and Theophilus London and spots on Bonnaroo, Outside Lands and Governor’s Ball.
Eventually K.Flay signed with RCA Records and released an EP called What If It Is in 2013. Again, national media continued to follow as she found success, but as she quickly discovered life in the majors had its ups and downs. After leaving the label in 2014, K.Flay took her career into her own hands in the true DIY spirit and launched a Pledge Music campaign for her first full-length album, Life As A Dog, which was fully funded in only six days.
Life As A Dog is a pop-infused hip-hop album built on the back of a punk rock ideology. Finding herself without a label, led her back to her musical roots inspiring a burst of creative energy and the bold confidence to try new things in the studio. Working with collaborators like Billboard (Robyn, B.o.B., Britney Spears), Justyn Pilbrow (The Neighbourhood) and Sam Spiegel (Maroon 5, N.A.S.A), K.Flay created a collection of personal songs, like “Wishing It Was You,” “Fever,” “Bad Things” and “Thicker Than Dust,” with mesmerizing beats and honest lyrics that showcase an artist that’s found her voice and isn’t afraid to step outside the lines of conventional hip-hop.

Wolf Gang’s Black River EP Out Now On Cherrytree Records
VEVO Premieres “Black River” Music Video

“A massive new sound of epic proportions…every track on the EP is

sing-along worthy” – Nylon Magzine

“Sparkling indie-pop zinging with class, energy and potential” – NME

Watch: “Black River” video via VEVO
Listen:  Bastille – “Bad Blood” (Wolf Gang Remix) via SoundCloud

VEVO has premiered the new Wolf Gang video for “Black River.” The band said, “There is throughout the film both a dark intensity and a natural beauty that we think matches the musical and lyrical journey of the song really well; it is essentially a short Louisianan fairytale where the song’s lyrics about witnessing someone becoming lost along the way have been twisted and elaborated with a little artistic license until the Black River is very much a real place, filled with otherworldly lights and eery characters.” The Black River EP is out now on Cherrytree Records, home to breakthrough British acts like Ellie Goulding, Disclosure and La RouxNylon ran an exclusive stream of the EP and said, “the title number and thumping jam ‘Last Bayou’ really boast soundtrack status. It might be early to call, but who says that has to stop us from putting McElligott and co. into the running for songs of the summer?!” Black River will give listeners the first taste of what is to come on the band’s upcoming sophomore record out later this year. Wolf Gang are currently recording their sophomore album with British music producer Flood (U2, Nine Inch Nails, PJ Harvey). Flood just won the award for UK producer of the year at the Brit awards for his work onFoals’ album Holy Fire

Wolf Gang just completed a U.S. tour with Bastille and the band just released a remix of Bastille’s “Bad Blood.” The remix is available to post and share via SoundCloud. Wolf Gang have quickly cultivated a dedicated and avid fan base through three years of nearly non-stop live performances, including headline tours where the band sold out the historic Troubadour in Los Angeles, support slots with Coldplay, Florence + The Machine, The Killers, and The Naked And Famous, countless festival appearances (including SXSW and Coachella) and topping the bill on the influential 2011 NME Radar Tour. The live shows reveal the musicians’ interest in stylistic aesthetics as well: the band has a long-standing connection with the fashion world, and have collaborated with brands like Armani andBurberry and performed at London’s Fashion Week.
Wolf Gang initially formed as a solo project by London musician Max McElligott, but has since evolved into a full-on collaborative effort between its four members. Wolf Gang’s debut album, Suego Faults, produced by Dave Fridmann (MGMT, The Flaming Lips) came out in 2011. Although those songs were a reflection of McElligott’s individual musical sensibility, as the band toured extensively on the songs, Wolf Gang transformed the songs into vibrant live collaborations, leading McElligott to officially make the band a four-piece. Inspired to work together, the musicians decamped to Berlin to write songs that fully encapsulated their live experience and contained the sort of energy the band was able to generate onstage, resulting in Black River. The songs reflect a true melding of all four musicians’ sensibilities, which is something you can hear throughout the EP. “It’s great to hear everyone’s personality and style on the record” McElligott says. “This is a real progression for us in that sense because it’s a full-bodied piece of work that reflects all our characters and emotions.”

Black River EP Track List:

1. Black River (stream)

2. Back To Life

3. Last Bayou

4. Black River (La’Reda Remix)

“Too blessed to be stressed,” is one of many key song lyrics from Rebelution’s new album Count Me In. The California band’s fourth full-length release on its own label 87 Music, and partnering for the first time with Easy Star Records, marks its tenth year together. And while surely every band has its share of stress, Rebelution feels they have been “too blessed” to have much time to worry about it.

Said guitarist/singer Eric Rachmany about the band in its decade milestone, “we still have the same energy as we did as a young band, if not more. The more experience we had doing this, the more inspired we became.”

The songs on Count Me In show that as they combine ever-youthful energy with a mature perspective. For every hopeful “Count Me In,” there’s a worldly-wise “Counterfeit Love.” For every message of positivity, as in “More Love” (“You’re in a dream, wake up and now gear up/Come on”), there’s a look at the hard edge of history: “Invasion” recounts the plight of the oppressed as Eric sings, “No time for questions/Don’t ask for reasons/Washed of their faith/Thrown in the fire.” “Every song has a story,” the singer explains matter-of-factly. The acknowledgement of injustice that deepens some of Rebelution’s stories draws on the roots-reggae tradition that inspired the band in the first place. Indeed, their love for the inspirational roots of modern Jamaican music have culminated in a collaboration with Don Carlos himself, on the jam-anthem “Roots Reggae Music.”reb_new_press_shot-resized

The seeds of Rebelution germinated in Santa Barbara’s college town of Isla Vista in 2004. A student named Marley D. Williams had recently switched from baseball to bass guitar when, walking to choir practice one night, he heard strains of roots-reggae coming through a door. The fellow reggae enthusiast turned out to be Rachmany, a devotee of roots-reggae and dancehall, and especially the music of Don Carlos and Black Uhuru.

The nucleus of a new and innovative “California Reggae” band got rock-solid when Marley heard percussionist and drummer Wesley Finley’s impressive solos on a big African drum in a World Music class. At the same time, the bassist had befriended a local band featuring keyboardist Rory Carey, who soon became another cornerstone of the budding Rebelution.

Fate? Good luck? Some combination of forces had stirred in Isla Vista to bring these boys together. Guerilla-style cover gigs led to bigger local shows, original songs, and a homemade five-song EP that surprised everyone by becoming a radio hit in Hawaii, quickly leading to a tour there. The eye-opening thrill of headlining a show in front of 600 fans, all singing along, told the young musicians that even though they were still college kids, they were onto something big there on the Big Island.

Back home, it was time to invest in recording a full album. After a few growing pains, Courage to Grow hit the airwaves, and of course the internet – it was the heyday of Myspace, and the band took full advantage. The album’s title expressed their fearless energy, and the same kind of organic underground surge that had created their early Hawaiian fan base propelled Courage to Grow to #4 on the Billboard Reggae chart and earned it the nod as iTunes’ Editors’ Choice for Best Reggae Album of 2007.

Bright Side of Life, released on their own 87 Music label in 2009, hit #1 on the iTunes Reggae chart, and was the third most downloaded album in the U.S. in all genres while reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart and #34 on Billboard’s top 200.

As if that weren’t enough, their third LP, Peace of Mind, released in 2012 with additional acoustic and dub versions of all twelve songs, marked an even higher chart debut: #13 on the Billboard Top 200, not to mention #1 on the Reggae chart and #1 on the Independent chart – and it was the #4 iTunes album overall.

All very different, but always musical brothers, these tireless pioneers of California Reggae now play 100-120 shows a year. Tours have taken them to South America, Guam, Aruba, New Zealand and Europe. They’ve performed at Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Glastonbury, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits. They’ve headlined and sold out Red Rocks and the Santa Barbara Bowl, and done all this with no backing from any major label and very little media support.

Rebelution3_72dpiMarley explains: “Our music is meant to move people physically and mentally at the same time. When people are really dancing and really thinking, that’s a double threat.” Among other things, he adds, it evokes “It’s a ‘one love’ spirit and we’re doing it in our own style, influenced by the diversity in California and the people we were surrounded by growing up.”

Still, at heart, the story of Rebelution is a pretty easy one to understand. As the band embarks on its second decade, Eric explains, “Rebelution is a great example of four friends who got together to play music for the fun of it, and still do that today. We just play music that we really enjoy.”

Sevendust newlogo-1024x220

Orange, CA, June 17, 2014 –The City Drive Entertainment Group has announced it has made a deal to film Atlanta-based hard rock icons Sevendust for a landmark multi-show live DVD and documentary.

Production on the feature-length documentary is set to begin immediately and take six months, and will include historical footage; footage from the band’s current “An Evening With Sevendust” acoustic tour; interviews; and cameos from Tommy Lee, Mark Tremonti (Alter Bridge), Scott Phillips (Alter Bridge and also a member of Sevendust guitarist John Connolly and bassist Vince Hornsby’s band, Projected), Wolfgang Van Halen and many others. City Drive/DC3 will film the concert portion of the project in New York City. They expect to film two full-length shows back-to-back: an acoustic show followed by a plugged-in show—the band’s last plugged-in show of 2014. The band will offer tickets for both shows to fans at one price and they’re expecting a very quick sell out. Tickets will go on sale sometime in late June. On sale info will be announced soon.

The plugged-in show will showcase more firepower than Sevendust has ever deployed, with pyrotechnics, spectacular lighting, video projection and screens, and special effects. Drummer/vocalist Morgan Rose promises, “We’re going to bring on so much production, it will amaze people. We’re going to blow sh up, we’re going to have fire, we’re going to have dragons, we’re going to have fire-breathing dragons. It may be the only time fans will ever get to see us this way!”

Guitarist Clint Lowery explains, “The essence of this band is playing live and that’s what we’re finally documenting for this project. What’s unique about it is that it will share both sides of this band—the melodic and the aggressive—with our most die-hard fans. This film is a heartfelt way to show them, our children and the whole world who we were, who we became, where we are and where we’re going.”

“We’re already on the road to make this project happen,” says award-winning film director Daniel Catullo III, CEO of The City Drive Entertainment Group and DC3 Music Group, the director and producer of the project. He started shooting Sunday, June 8th at the band’s show in at the Starland Theatre in Sayreville, NJ, just across the river from New York City. “We aim to capture the band’s live essence—acoustic and plugged-in—as well as to document their long history of genre-bending innovation in the hard rock arena.”

“Fans will be part of the films, and how could they not be?” Catullo adds. “They are the heart of Sevendust’s success and literally made the band’s current album possible.” The film will feature interviews with up to 100 fans. Catullo urges fans that want to be interviewed for the film to put in their requests at City Drive/DC3 expects to release the DVD/CD project in early 2015.

Atlanta-based Sevendust, comprised of Lajon Witherspoon (vocals); Morgan Rose (drums/vocals), Clint Lowery (guitar/vocals), John Connolly (guitar/vocals) and Vince Hornsby (bass/vocals) formed in 1994 and released their first eponymous record in 1997, which was certified gold.

Sevendust released their critically acclaimed tenth (and second acoustic) album, “Time Travelers & Bonfires” on the band’s 7Bros. Records label, in conjunction with ADA Label Services, on April 15. The album of new and re-recorded acoustic material debuted at the top of Billboard’s Hard Music Albums chart. Crowdfunded with a PledgeMusic campaign, which kicked off in November, fan response was so great the band was able to start recording “Time Travelers & Bonfires” at Architekt Music in Butler, NJ—where they recorded their previous album “Black Out The Sun” album in January 2013. By the time the campaign ended, they’d reached 235% of their goal with almost 3500 pledges.

The band is currently headlining an acoustic tour, “An Evening With Sevendust,” to support the release. The tour kicked off this past April in Athens, GA and has dates booked through the end of June, with more dates to come throughout the summer.

Stephen “Ragga” Marley’s forthcoming album is the second installment in a two part series, following his 2012 album Revelation Part I: The Root of Life.  Whereas The Root of Lifeis a celebration and preservation of roots reggae – filled with powerful messages, enriching spirit and live instrumentation – The Fruit of Life will utilize a diversified sonic palette to express the far-reaching impact Jamaican music has had on various genres, especially hip hop. The new album features a variety of guest collaborations with Rick Ross, Dead Prez, Rakim, DJ Khaled, Busta Rhymes, Wyclef Jean, Shaggy, Black Thought (of The Roots), Bounty Killer, Sizzla, Capleton, Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Ky-mani Marley, Jo Mersa and more.
