In Vegas for the weekend’s “Life Is Beautiful” extravaganza, my extra day’s stay awarded me another extravaganza and a sneak peek of all three Rock in Rio USA’s “Rock Streets” (Rock Street UK, USA and Brazil) within Vegas’ “City of Rock”, a brand new venue being built for two weekends of rock, soul and pop May 8-9 and May 15-16,2015. Holding successful festivals in Brazil and Portugal, Rock in Rio partnered with MGM, Cirque Du Soleil and Ron Burkle to bring the U.S. a taste of these global events. In celebration of Rock in Rio’s 30th anniversary, this new “city” on the northern end of the Strip will be able to hold over 85,000 concertgoers a day and six viewing stages with a zip line. Each Rock Street within the “city” will feature restaurants, shops and cultural street performers from all over the world.

At the press conference this morning, more headlining and featured acts were announced for the soul and pop weekend with three artists added- Ed Sheeran joining Taylor Swift on May 15th and Bruno Mars and Joss Stone joining John Legend on May 16th. Already announced in the lineup for the rock weekend, No Doubt will play on May 8th and Metallica and Deftones on May 9th. We also got snippet performances from several artists who’ll be featured on the Rock Streets including Latin Grammy nominee Bossa Cuca Nova, breakdancing by The Official Street Dance Crew, capoeira performers ,a Brazilian folk band Terra Celta and the 17 piece Spok Fevro Orchestra.
