Why should I sign up for an acount?
Let me count the ways:
- Read brief synopsis reviews that give you a sense of what the music is like without going into an essay.
- Find friends/peers that have the same music taste as you
- Recommend music to said peers, and have music recommended to you
- The site will recommend you music based on you profile/favorite bands/favorite genre.

How Do I Get My Music Reviewed?
First off, we've still got CDs cluttering our desks from 4 years ago. We are working on a new digital form where you can supply a link to your album for download. We are working towards ZERO postage and ZERO discs in the garbage.
If you've gotten this far, head over to our contact page and send us a line with all the particulars. Please note that just because you fill out the form you won't be guaranteed a review. Although if you purchase a $30 banner ad we will GUARANTEE a review. It's not guaranteed to be positive but we will make it a priority. If you want more details again, fill out the contact page and we'll get back to you.
If you don't have a download available then you need to talk to the person in charge of your website and allow FTP access. CDs WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED ANYMORE. Let's do our part for the environment by eliminating postage AND packaging.
How do I contact you?
If you would like to send any questions, comments, or general feedback
please fill out our contact
form.
I can't seem to see/do ________ on your site, what's wrong?
The new Music Emissions is very heavily dependent on Javascript and Cookies. If
you happen to have Javascript turned off on your browser then things
won't work, recommendations, adding friends, adding favorite artists,
certain tabs. This is an easy fix:
- On Firefox: Go into "Tools > Options > Content" and ensure that the "Enable Javascript" is checked.
- On Internet Explorer: Go into "Tools > Internet Options > Security".
Click on "Custom Level" and scroll until almost the bottom. Ensure
that "Active Scripting" is selected to either "Enable" or "Prompt".
ALSO ON IE: Change your security settings to at least "Medium" ("Tools > Internet Options > Security > Custom Level" Reset to "Medium".) - On Safari: Go into "Preferences > Security" and ensure that "Enable Javascript" is checked.
If you still seem to have problems, please fill out the form on the contact page and tell us the exact problem. We don't want you missing out.
Do you have a newsletter or email list I can join?
Yes, we have a monthly (or thereabouts) newsletter that we update
readers with what's new on the site. If you are a member you will
get the privilege of
receiving this fantastic and informative publication. Sign up for an account.
I would like to unsubscribe from your email list, how do I do that?
View your profile and choose "edit". You should be able
to deselect the newsletter option. Now why would you want to do that?
I have a review I would like to contribute. Will you post it?
No. You can post it yourself. If you find an artist that isn't
listed in our database drop us a line and we can add the artist and album information.
Then you can post your review as a "user review".
What is the difference between an editorial review and a user review?
An editorial review is a review of an album that has been submitted
for review. It is done by our esteemed editorial staff. A user review
is something that the rest of the Music Emissions community can submit.
User review scores are compiled according to the average score that
users have given that particular album.
How do I become an editorial reviewer?
Open up an account on Music Emissions and start posting your fine "user
reviews". Once you have reached a certain threshold (25 reviews)
a red light goes off in our offices and alerts us that we have a
"hot reviewer". Our editors will have a look at your writing quality
and if it is above average we will contact you and approach
you about being an esteemed editorial reviewer. Start writing
I have an interview that I would like to contribute. Will you post it?
Yes. We are always looking for interviews. Please
contact us if you would like us to hook you up with
an interview opportunity. Hit us up with the contact page.
Will you link to my site?
No, we took down our links page due to the outdatedness of it.
If we have come across an artist's homepage we will post it along with
the other artist information. Thanks for understanding.
Do you have some banners or buttons I can use to link to your site?
We have a page dedicated to that.
How do I get my band/label's banner on your site?
Please look at our advertising page.
Do you have a privacy policy?
Yes indeed! You can find all the exciting details here.
Can I view a complete list of reviews?
Yeah, but it will take you a while to load the page. We have over 6000
reviews archived on the site. A better idea would be going through
our artists list and checking out each artist. Or the search is a
good idea.
Can I donate money to your website in support of what you are doing?
Funny, you should ask. I figured that I had a PayPal account
so I would set up a donation button. You can find it up in
the menu box. Thanks.
Please note that 10% of all donations will be contributed to the Sweet Relief foundation in good faith.
