Music Reviews - How to get your music reviewed
Music Emissions is a music review and community site that is dedicated to the independent music industry. We selectively review music that is sent to us, both indie music wise and smaller labels, as well as some of our own collections. Some of the genres that we review include Rock, Electronica, Hip Hop, No Depression, Americana, World, Metal, Punk and occasionally Jazz. Reviews get published on a daily basis. We also publish interviews and biographies on a daily basis.
Want your Music Reviewed?
You have to first understand just how many CDs that we receive every week, and the amount of non-recycleable plastic that is involved. If you don't have a finished package (read: CDR, photocopied covers, laser-printed covers) it hits the trash. If you are sending us non-complete advances (clear jewel case, not official release) then we would just prefer to get the album as a digital file: zip it up, place it on your server and send us a link to download it. If you've gotten this far, head over to our contact page and send us a line. Thank you for being understanding.
Interested in becoming an editorial reviewer?
Are you completely engrossed in alternative music and looking for a way to get your opinion about indie music heard?
If so you might be a likely candidate for MusicEmissions.com review team.
We are looking for a few more writers/reviewers that can contribute content
on a weekly basis. If you have never heard of bands like Guided By Voices,
Spoon, or Husker Du then you should walk away slowly, right now, back-up,
away from this website and go visit Billboard.com.
To get started open up an account on Music Emissions and start posting some fine "user reviews". Once you have reached a certain threshold (25 reviews) a red light goes off in our offices and alerts us that we have a "hot reviewer". Our editors will have a look at your writing quality and if it is above average we will contact you and approach you about being an esteemed editorial reviewer. Start writing.
Some requirements of an Editorial Reviewer are:
- At least three reviews weekly
- Be objective
- Enjoy all types of indie music (Americana, Electronica, hip hop, rock, emo, punk, metal etc)
- Short reviews between 200-300 words
