Thu 08/25 Thursday, We.re All Broken, The Blackout Pact @ CBGBs - it was a fucking great show. Wonderful to see Thursday for the first time since December. The new shit sounds promising too. And The Blackout Pact rocked. I've been meaning to pick up that album. I met up with Adam. Yay Adam!
September Fri 09/16 Joey Eppard and 3 @ Joyous Lake - It ended up being canceled... and instead I went and saw Coheed and Cambria, Thursday and 3 @ Webster Hall for Fuse's 7th Avenue Drop. I met up with Nathan, John and Marco. Oh, and Adam too, but he left before Coheed because his band had a show. 3 was awesome as always. Jimmy Eppard filled in on bass, so that was a treat. Thursday was fun, but of course, no Thursday show is complete without "Jet Black New Year." I had to pee, but I waited for that song. Oh yeah, it was open bar- so I had myself a jolly ol' time. Coheed and Cambria was amazing. It was the debut of the huge guillotine and the other props. Pretty amazing. Heard "The Suffering" and "Once Upon Your Dead Body" for the first time live. The 6 or 7 song set made me really pumped for the upcoming string of Coheed and Cambria shows.
Sat 09/17 Coheed and Cambria @ Irving Plaza - they played with Against Me! and The Draft (ex Hot Water Music). Um... I didn't really pay attention to the first two because I focused on getting drunk... which I succeeded in. I went with Vinnie and ran into everyone at that show. John, Corey, Andy, Jim Cobb, Nathan, Liz, Adam... it was so long ago. I can't really remember. So yeah. 12 song set. First time hearing "Keeping the Blade." In addition to that song they played "Welcome Home," "The Writing Writer," "Once Upon Your Dead Body," "Ten Speed," and "Final Cut" off the new album. That was a great set. Mic also introduced Dave and mentioned that he'd be on tour with them from then on. It was Dave's first show with Coheed and Cambria.
Mon 09/19 Coheed and Cambria instore @ Looney Tunes - I took the train with Andy from the city to Long Island. I met more people and hung out with Pat. I experienced "Welcome Home" acoustic for the first time. Experienced "A Favor House Atlantic" acoustic for the third time. Heard "Wake Up" for the first time. It was a nice little set.
Mon 09/19 Coheed and Cambria album release show @ Crash Mansion - uh... yeah. I saw them twice in one day. Andy and I went back to the city and hit up Crash Mansion. Ran into Nathan, George, Corey, Adam, Kevroc... Met Caroline, Jai, Andrew, Alison... and again I was pretty wasted and it was a while ago, so I don't remember everyone. It was most definately one of the most fun Coheed performances I've seen. It was very relaxed and a sit-down. I sat on the ground and stole Adam's drink while he was recording. The guys joked around a lot, jammed a little and played the same set as earlier with "Final Cut" chucked in. I was skeptical about how the song would sound acoustic... but it was fucking gorgeous. Ah, such a great set.
Wed 09/21 Coheed and Cambria instore @ Vintage Vinyl - haha. Yeah, I preordered the album with Looney Tunes before they announced the Vintage Vinyl instore so I ended up going to both. I hung out with John, Jimmy, Liz, CODY! and... more. The same 4 song acoustic set. 'twas nice.
Wed 09/21 The Spill Canvas @ Bloomfield Avenue Café - John and I drove to Bloomfield Ave after the Coheed instore so I could see The Spill Canvas for the first time. A little bit of TSC in the middle of all the Coheed was very nice. Although I love the music, the crowd was a little difficult to get used to. All young girls and some boyfriends mixed in. Well... "The Tide" made it all worth-while.
Tue 09/27 Coheed and Cambria @ House of Blues - The first date of the fall tour! Wooo! Hah, it was great. I got drunk pretty early on so I don't remember much about mewithoutYou and dredg... except the fact that I recognized "January 1979" and their sets were enjoyable. The Blood Brothers forced me to take some tylenol with my Jack and Coke. Coheed's set was unbelievable. The guillotine looked so good on the huge stage. Dave was the first one out- he played "Keeping the Blade." Then was Claudio with his bone chilling "Always & Never." "Delirium Trigger" made me beyond happy. That one song made the 2.5 hour trip worth it. Well... the Willing Well medley alone made the trip worth it. It was a little messy, but they didn't practice too much and it was the first date of the tour. I figured by the time they came back to NY those songs would be tightened up. Either way, it was so exciting. It may have been the best Coheed set I've seen.
Wed 09/28 Dashboard Confessional, Coheed and Cambria, The New Amsterdams, The Honorary Title acoustic @ Starland Ballroom - although I love listening to acoustic stuff... solo acoustic sets usually bore me so I don't really remember The Honorary Title's set. I remember The New Amsterdams' set picking up at the last song. Fucking cover of The Get Up Kids' "Out Of Reach." Well... yeah, I guess it would be considered a cover. That made me happy. Then Coheed came on. This was a really laid back set. I was actually expecting a half hour with the same four songs. I was proven very wrong. They did a little jam, then "Welcome Home," "A Favor House Atlantic," "Once Upon Your Dead Body" - which I did not expect at all. It was quite the pleasant surprise. And well, Jimmy was screaming for "The Trooper," so they played it. Afterward Claudio looked over at Jimbo and said it was for him. Fuckin' awesome. Then "Blood Red Summer," "Wake Up," and they attempted "The Suffering." It was much better than I expected." "Final Cut" was last as always... but this time Claudio added some extra vocals to the end. Fucking hell, I got the chills. I left after Coheed and sorta listened to Dashboard from outside Starland.
October
Tue 10/25 Saves the Day, The Early November @ Irving Plaza - I met up with John and we got there in time for two Senses Fail songs. It was tolerable. Then Saves the Day. They were so fucking fucking fucking great. Oh man. I love Saves the Day. True they didn't play the songs I really wanted to hear, but that new song they played, made it all worth while. It sounded kinda heavy, but still the Saves the Day sound. Sounded like the older stuff, but more mature. It just sounded great. I smiled the entire time. It made me happy, hah. I met Chris from Words Now Heard at that show. w00t.
November
Tue 11/01 3 instore @ Vintage Vinyl - I was one of like 10-15 kids there. I met Beck from Pennsylvania. 3 played a great set- as always. It was longer than I though it would be. The new bassist is pretty awesome. And young. Crazy. "Amaze Disgrace" gave me the chills as always. Oh man. Joey's phenomenal.
