I have a CMJ Hangover. I can honestly tell you it is a real thing.Friday and Saturday were dedicated to the Fader Fort. The line-up was diverse and rather decent, plus there would be free whiskey and beer. After the Young the Giant MTV taping, I went around the corner to the Fader Fort where UMO was already on stage. My first live experience of Band of Skulls was at this past year’s Bonnaroo festival. This energetic group played during its opening night shortly after the sunset, and it was impossible to get to through the thousands of people crowding the stage. I was pleased to see them announce two shows at Mercury Lounge in NYC and immediately purchased tickets.

Their impressive debut album, Baby Darling Doll Face Honey, was released in 2009, and I am sure people have worn out their copies

If I were to give one piece of advice to any music lover coming to visit New York City, I would tell him or her to walk right over to Mercury Lounge and buy tickets for a show. At first Mercury Lounge can be confused as a small dark bar where the locals unite to discuss their hatred of the B&T crowd (Bridge and Tunnel), but when you walk past the red curtains from 1972, one will find a small room that hosts some of the best concerts I have been to.
