Bio

This is me introducing myself.

I used to work with Dennis at the infamous A&B Sound here in Calgary (actually, I think EVERYONE in Calgary worked there at least once...), and we've kinda kept in touch off and on over the years; recently he'd sked me to contribute reviews and whatnot, and I never turn down an offer of free music.

Topics for discussion:

1. I've never owned a Guns N Roses cd; although I recently cheekily joked to my friends that, should Axel and co actually SHOW UP for their recent show here in Calgary, not only would I purchase ONE of their cd's, I'd purchase ALL OF THEM. Sort of in the spirit of "...when pigs fly outta my ass..." Yeah. Well. Um.

2. When I write reviews for metal bands, I'm usually listening to Kylie Minogue; when I write hip-hop reviews, it's usually Dolly Parton.

3. I once spent an entire year utterly convinced that The Tragically Hip's album 'Day For Night' was all about vampires.

4. I've just recently admitted to myself that I do indeed enjoy pop music, and since have become quite the diva; I am still, however, as punk as f**k, and don't you forget it.

5. I am STILL convinced that Weezer's 'Pinkerton' is Rivers Cuomo's version of Madame Butterfly (it's TRUE, goddammit).

6. I believe that Mike Patton is the vocalist of the century, but I'm starting to wish that he'd do a little more than just babble incoherently over japanese-free-form-jazz-metal.

7. I think that the entire Gorillaz concept goes quite deeper than most people realize, being an attempt to alter our collective reality through mass pop hysteria.

8. I really wish Aerosmith would just go away. I really wish Bob Dylan would just go away. I really wish Rod Stewart would just go away. In fact, there are A LOT of people who I think we can all do without, but no one ever listens to me...

9. Given that modern scientific theory posits that the underlying foundation of reality is a intricate mesh of vibrations and frequencies, and that in its essence, music is the result of manipulatiing various harmonic frequencies, I believe that the creation of music at the very least is an attempt to communicate with the universe in its own language.

No, really.

10. I still think Goths look silly in sunlight, and I can't help but giggle every time I hear the phrase 'Christian Rock'.

You have thirty minutes to complete this portion of the test. Please remember to list your reference sources, although we will allow you to back up a claim by saying, 'because I SAID so.' If you finish before the time allotted has expired, you may sit quietly with your head on the desk until the remaining time runs out. Bonus points are given out for bribery.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
