We've had a lot of band reunions lately. Sure, since the Eagles overcame their differences and returned with "Hell Freezes Over" it's been all about the money and getting your old buddies back together. I was thinking if there are any reunion tours that I would actually pay money for.
Sex Pistols - Oh, I was a big Sex Pistol fan as kid. Huge! BUT, I don't think I would travel very far to see an aging Johnny Rotten play, minus Sid Vicious.
Led Zepplin - I was not a Led Zepplin fan as a kid. Nope, it wasn't until about 1995 when I really started getting into their catalog. Sure, I had Led Zepplin IX and listened to it quite a bit but I wouldn't say I was a "fan". Would I go see them? Only if I had tix given to me. I would not pay the $200+ price to see a band that is only half there.
The Police - Again, not a big fan when I was younger but I owned and wore out Synchronicity. If I had free tickets and didn't have to travel then I might go see one of their shows. It would probably be entertaining. But I've HATED everything Sting has done on his own so it would be hard to support and act like this.
Van Halen - Not a chance in hell.
Pixies - I admit, I saw their reunion.
The Smashing Pumpkins - Everyone's main complaint is that its only two members. I'd still go if they hit Calgary. I've seen them multiple times already.
Crowded House - Not a big enough fan to warrant seeing them. I'm sure it would be a good show but not worth it for me.
Some speculations and dreams:
Cars - Here's a band that I couldn't get enough of when I was young. I think a Cars reunion would make for a good show.
Dire Straits - Mark Knopfler is one of those guys who doesn't slow down musically. Having just done a great album with Emmylou Harris a Dire Straits reunion is probably not at all in the works but it would be good.
Wham - Just kidding... But possible
The Smiths - If they can overcome their differences and if Johnny Marr gets a break from Modest Mouse.
Uncle Tupelo - Hell will definitely freeze over before Tweedy and Farrar ever tour together again. I'd settle for a Wilco/Son Volt tour.
Husker Du - Same deal, Grant Hart and Bob Mould would never do it but it would be awesome! I've seen both of them individually.
The Replacements - Would Westerberg ever do it? This is one I would travel to see.
Any others that I've missed? Any that you'd pay hard earned money for? Have you seen any of the current reunions?
Comments:
Ha, no I missed them by 1 day. And what are you talking about? They're British! Thanks a lot England, for corrupting our innocent girls. We have good wholesome music for our pre-teen girls like Avril Lavigne.

My Bloody Valentine. Rumors buzzing about them possibly doing it (!), and I'm very pysched. I just hope they don't sully their (perhaps over-hyped) cult classic name.
