My inexcusable absence and an update

Hello everyone! I am back in full force. Hopefully every one of you had a decent holiday season and didn't have too many Rum and Egg Nog's. I stayed fairly clean myself, nursing my family from one of the worst case of stomach flu's ever! But two weeks off makes for a fresh start and a clean head. Happy New Year all. Let's hope this year brings a lot of great and adventurous music.

I have been listening to a few new albums but nothing has got me inspired to start writing reviews again :(

Some of these albums include:

  • Desoto Jones - Aurora
  • Sigur Ros - Hvarf/Heim
  • The Attorneys - Sterocracy
  • Baumer - Were It Not For You
  • British Sea Power - Now This Is Rock Music
Now all of them are decent and do warrant reviews but nothing has sparked the writing in me quite yet. You'll be seeing reviews from me very shortly though. In other news... I'm looking at where to take the site next. There are a few things I am working on including some amazing new blog features (hopefully bringing MP3 blogging capabilities into your hot hands, disk space pending), lists (a long requested feature that I haven't had time to work on yet), and more added to the successful "comments" sidebar (friend adds, album rating, new blog posts, etc). A few other things in the works and in my head too but I need to think more about them. I am also trying to flesh out a "recommendation tool" as well. One that you don't actually have to wait for recommendations to hit you. You enter a band and some other album recommendations pop out. Again, still in the works and all of this is subject to how busy the 9-5 job gets. Hopefully slack in the next month or so to give me time for some of these updates. Oh, and there are still a few bugs in the admin side of things I need to iron out. I wish I had an extra 2 hours every day for this site. I'd like to welcome Deatheyesforkiley to the official editorial reviewer fold. He has proved himself with about 25 decent user reviews. Stop by and say hi.

I feel you, except of course that absolutely nobody will hire me. I guess I'll take this chance to apologize for my absence as well...damn finals. Expect me back at the end of the month with a few reviews.

Welcome back Dennis.   I have a proposition.  I don't know if this has already been tried or not, but how about we have a section on the home page for our very own ME Artist of the Month.  You know how the feature section scrolls across, what if we make a banner that advertises the ME of the Month and then have the band and the bio scrolling across.  Just an idea I came upon today, thought I would gain your view on it.  The only thing I didn't figure out, was how to go about finding the ME Artist of the Month.  I also thought of the name Indie Artist of the Month, but thats kinda limits the genre of who could be artist of the month.

That's why I added the "Home" link at the top. The image is now in the background, therefore not enabling to be a link itself. Stupid programming issues. Sorry dude. Just get used to the Home link. I'll see if I can work something in later.

Happy new year to you too...

What about this?

My strongest complaint thusfar is a simple fix, and Im suprised no one else has noticed it.  The MusicEmissions logo at the top left hand side of every page use to be a link back to the hom page no matter where you were.  CAn we please have this convenience back?
