Spoon, Cat Power, Walkmen, Les Savy Fav, Boredoms, Destroyer and many others hit Calgary for Sled Island

While browsing the blogs I go to every day, I Guess I'm Floating, I came across a post about the new Spoon, an album that I am highly anticipating. I check out Spoon's site to see if they have any more information about their new album, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, due out in July. Nothing there but I noticed a tour date in Calgary with Cat Power, two groups that I don't believe have ever been to Calgary. I kept clicking and came across Sled Island, a festival that is descending on Calgary at the end of June for four days for about $150. Not bad for some of these bands. I can't recall the last big festival (not sponsored like Warped or Taste of Chaos) hitting Calgary. Was it Highwood?
It is mostly due to the efforts of Zak and Shawn. Thanks for your efforts guys. These bands are long overdue playing Calgary. Not only are the above bands hitting town but there are a number of great Calgary based bands playing: Rocket Smog, Forbidden Dimension, Hot Little Rocket, Azeda Booth, and many many more.
I will be there!

I love Cat Power. I saw her a few years back at the pipeline cafe on the Big Island. it was sweet. she is soulful. see her if you can.
