This weekend will be spent in what I'm rather ashamed to call my childhood town, the sleepy, Packers-obsessed realm of Appleton, Wis. That means I'll be missing out on a certain music festival, possibly the largest gathering of bands I like. The name sends shivers of joy through the average Urban Outfitters/thrift store clad college student. Pitchfork.
I've never been able to attend, so if anyone has, I'd love to hear your remarks. While the bands playing pretty much reflect my iTunes music library, I can imagine that attending such a gathering might be overrated. After all, isn't the fun of some of this sleepy or more experimental music listening to it in an underground coffee shop, complaining to other people how "no one knows about good music anymore"?
