Smith Westerns Get Remixed by Peaking Lights

Peaking Lights, the husband and wife dub pop psych duo from Cali, have just remixed "End Of The Night" from Smith Westerns. Finding themselves in a cross country move from the Bay Area to a house built into a barn in rural Wisconsin, Peaking Lights sound origin was created with humility and love with a personal touch directed by Aaron’s home built synths, effects units, and rhythm machines. Peaking Lights have maintained a sound distinction all of their own fusing influences as wide ranging as afro beat, disco, psychedelic rock, synth pop, krautrock, reggae and noise into songs that are as smooth, lush and elegant as they are propulsive, rhythmic and noisy.
The song is from the record Dye It Blonde, the latest release from the young Chicago breakout, buzz blog worthy band. Make no mistake; Dye It Blonde is an album destined to soundtrack hot, hazy summer days and a million house parties, driving along the open road with the top down or even rowdy nights in. When asked where the ideal place for Smith Westerns to play however, Omori plays it admirably cool. "We'd love to play at big arenas, eventually. But for now we'd just like to play in clubs to great crowds who know all the words to our songs. It's starting to happen now, I think." They just recently played ACL 2011, and are currently on tour:
