Its finally Friday and I've been catching up with bands I've found throughout the week, but never got a chance to listen to all that long. Also submitted to the Last.fm site, (my profile is here). Okay! What I've been listening to lately:
Let's Go Sailling:
Very ambient indie rock thats both relaxing and very interesting. Heard them on XMU radio and instantly liked them. Sunny skies and happy guitars, yay! myspace.com/letsgosailing
White Shoes & The Couples Company:
A silly Indonesian band that recently signed with Chicago's Minty Fresh Records, White Shoes & The Couples play an interesting blend of indie rock, pop, and (what I assume to be, I've never heard Indonesian music) traditional influences. "Tentan Cita" is damn catchy, again, sunshine music to drive some clouds away. myspace.com/whiteshoesandthecouplescompany
Ghostland Observatory:
A VERY odd band from Austin, these guys wrap disco into their indie like there's no tomorrow. The description "dance floor beats" doesn't begin to come close, and although much of their music commonly causes headaches and the like, "Sad Sad City" and others are very peculair listens. myspace.com/ghostlandobservatory
Arctic Monkeys:
I'm not sure I believe it took me this long to finally listen to these hype-magnets from across the pond, but the first my ears got of them was from their newest album Favourite Worst Nightmare, which gets released 4/24, listen to "Brainstorm" on their MySpace page: myspace.com/arcticmonkeys
Ecstatic Sunshine:
Horrifylingly good guitar work, and nothing else. No drummer, no bass, no nothing. Just two guys, their guitars, and some crazy finger work. The video speaks for itself:
Peter, Bjorn, and John: Yes I know this one is a little old, but I found the new video for "Young Folks" online and fell in love with the song all over again. Here it is:

Just posted a review of Boxer. Check it out. Also an MP3 has been posted on the National page.

I agree The Arctic Monkeys are over-hyped, but before listening to them I felt guilty claiming that. Now I know: they're good, but perhaps not THAT good.
Ghostland Observatory just tickle me. I can't listen to their CD more than once or I get headaches, and some songs are just mind-numbing, but by only showing their faces once in a while they'll stay in my musical library.
I shall check out National, you have successfully peaked my interest!

There is a lot to like about Peter Bjorn and John. I found the album to be quite amazing. I checked out the Lets Go Sailing as well. It was nice, pleasant pop. I personally think Arctic Monkeys are over-rated. Look to the Kooks or The Cribs for some fun Brit rock. And I couldn't get into Ghostland Observatory.
Mike, you should check out the National's Boxer. It's amazing. May just go down as one of my favorites this year. Fusing the likes of Interpol with The Shins with vocals by Nick Cave. Really worth checking out.
