I'm looking for some new music. so far everything that's come my way has been mildly disappointing and I cannot seem to find anything new and exciting. I've been listening to a lot of hippy dippy shit lately and heavily relying on the goodies as I know them. Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer, Norma Jean, The Flaming Lips, The Dresden Dolls, Led Zepplin, Team Sleep, deftones, well you get the idea. I'm dying for something new along the lines of bluegrass or anything for that matter. really digging manu chao about now. I don't care if it's brazilian or german or austrian, I just need some new tunage!

And one other thing, go through the site looking for some of those "old favorites" and mark them as favorites. This will help the site and other users recommend you great new music.

Oh damn, that's what this site is all all about. Here's some ideas for you:

  1. The Forms - Self titled (kind of melodic post-rock)
  2. Joe Henry - Civilians (some nice rootsy folk but still jazzy and classic)
  3. Habib Koite - Afriki (lovely Malian world music)
  4. Vic Chesnutt - North Star Deserter (You have to get to know Vic but he's lovely.)
  5. M. Ward - Post War (I know it's last year but if you haven't heard this and like earthy sexy singer/songwriters M Ward is for you)
I'll Recommend these all to you as well (via the lovely recommendation feature) and please let me know what you think.

Have you tried Jose Gonzalez, Rocky Votolato, or The Mountain Goats?
