The album's theme is lost time. On each of the mere 3,000 CD's released is an authentic photo from the early 1900's to "conjure the sprits of discarded memories." Within the album's case (or my individual one) was a page torn from a dictionary and a page torn from a book titled, "Peg Woffington" by author Charles Reade, what are to be two examples of "moth-eaten American life."

These Scraps of the past are to feel as if they are haunting the listeners. Dreamend is a Chicago based rock band consisting of vocalist/ instrumentalist Ryan Manon, guitarist/banjo player/bassist Derek Virta, and percussionist/drummer Mike Murlar. With scarce lyrics and much emotion, this album is nothing short of extraordinary.

"I try to heal you with the rest of me and I try to breath from the love you gave. And I try, I try, I try, Oh I try. Time goes by, and the winds will fade, and I try to love you but these words won't come." (If Ravens and Winds)

Dreamend's vocals are softly sung with importance and weight. While the music at times can become intense, it always manages to stay controlled. The drums dominate with care and the guitar acts as a light in the moist tunnels and dark forests "As If by Ghosts..." grabs and pulls its audience into. The Emotional jumble this album bestows is breathless while the passion it stirs is frightful. This band has an enormous amount of talent to that of which few bands compare.
